See this part number is a bit different than the part number for a 1990-1992 which is what I need. Does anyone know if these would work on a 1990 hdj81?
Let me do some digging. I'll see if I can figure that out.

EDIT: Sure looks like it would to me after looking at some parts websites. Partsouq, Amawama, etc. FJ80/FZJ80

I found this kid with his truck stuck as F*** Sunday. I asked him if his dad or anyone could come help him but he said he is living with his grandma.....So as much as I didn't want to spend 2 hours slipping around in the mud while wearing sneakers and getting my s*** all nasty I knew I better help him out.

I started by making him air down his tires so he could learn something and he got a little farther than put his tire in a big hole. Off camber mud grease sucks.

He had a kinetic rope and wanted me to yank him so I had to explain that my rig wasn't going to build any momentum in the grease on a hill, it would hardly move itself.

Than I showed him how to run a winch properly and got him winched to a position where we could try and use the kinetic rope effectively.

After winching I showed him how to use his strap for a bridle and demonstrated how to use a kinetic rope properly.

With my rig facing downhill and 20 ft from asphalt I was able to get to traction and pull him to the asphalt.

Than I promptly paid a visit to the car wash.

An old friend who was a police officer and hunting guide would tell the person he was pulling out to write him a $500 check in his hand in case he broke something on his truck (back in the 70s). Nothing broken, check returned. He would then tell them anything that broke on their rig, they were responsible for.

And yes, washing mud off your truck when it is cold, and you have a lot of miles on your body, just plain sucks.

Good will come to you. Glad you were in the right place at that time.

Yep, always some version of that old recovery addage: "if your truck breaks, it's your fault. If my truck breaks, it's your fault." :hillbilly:

Next step complete! I pulled the pump tonight, sliding it back off the two studs and securing it with zip ties away from everything else and started the engine. THE WHINE IS GONE. Below is a picture of the "intermediate" gear that operates off the crank and powers the power steering (PS) pump. It does have some marring (you cannot see it in this photo), but the noise has completely disappeared, so I'm hopeful that a new PS pump gear will remain silent for a while at least.

If the intermediate gear isn't whining against the crank gear, my hope is that it won't whine against a new PS pump gear either (indicating the PS pump gear is the issue). I've never come across other posts mentioning a whine from a nicked power steering pump gear—just the annoying tick that everyone mentions. Not sure what to make of that. Maybe mine is more grooved than nicked. I don't have the tick, just the whine. Whether that means the intermediate gear is severely damaged in there, only time will tell.

It will take a while to get a new gear from Partsouq, but I'll report back once it's in. Fingers crossed!

To close the case here, the new power steering pump gear completely removed the whine. I'm quite pleased.

Got me some new swaybar brackets today. Thanks Lee! @solvefunction

I have the 30mm Super Pro sway bars for front and rear and used the hardware that came with it. One of the noticeable upgrades I’ve made.
I think it looks awesome and considering It. What advantages or improvements does this bracket provide?

I just clean up and plastidip the old ones. 8 years after a rebuild, my speedo cable clamp still looks great.

How do you recoat them? Not all brackets are available.

Plasti Dip, comes in several colors. Small and large cans so you can either dip the part in (preferable) or brush it on for larger areas.

Replacing the bad diode on my third brake light. When I bypass the diode it works. I ordered one from that jungle website this morning and it will be here this afternoon! #Prime
