I would bet as you cut those zip ties and start pulling out the mess, you'll find maybe 5 or 6 wires that need to be repaired. They always look worse than they really are.
I was thinking the same thing. I did mine 10 years ago and it wasn't nearly as bad as it looked.

Pulled the driver's seat, rolled the carpet up and removed the lower dash to pull the alarm.

Here's the Toyota part... and the chitshow that I've got to deal with...

It's either laugh it off and start planning, or roll the rig into my neighbor's pond.

Inline fuses, crimp connectors... what a mess.
Steaming hot mess!

Mechanically have my wife's 80 sorted. It was a basket case triple locked '94... rusty and an absolute mess. Bought "new" panels from a member here on Mud and redid the body too (Monstalined trail rig now). Runs great. BUT, getting the intermittent no crank issue (already replace the fusible link)... and the starter is fine. Seems that the dang alarm/immobilizer is the likely culprit.

Looks about normal...every alarm fitted LC I've seen was similar. The installers currently reside in the 9th circle, or should.

reassembling the engine. Can't seem to find the 2 mounting bolts for the front of the head. I have all new head bolts, but the two in the front I must have misplaced. Does anyone know what size they are, or where I can get a replacement? View attachment 3834480

@Corky1936 call the dealership Monday; they should be able to have two for you next day.

Did an easy trail to get the kids to the “lake” they loved it.
Also did replacement raduis arms and front calipers last week. Still need to put new pads in though.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yep, that's the plan. Carefully snipping the zip ties, then going through the loom(s). We're going wheeling in a couple of weeks down in Eastern, Kentucky, so I've got a timeline to work with... and hopefully, I'll be able to get the old girl buttoned back up (and the alarm deleted) before departure.

Fingers crossed, once I get in there fully, that's my experience is the same as yours...fingers crossed!

New alternator and adj hardware as mine was not charging anymore. I’ve never touched this one and the label said Toyota Denso built 04. Don’t know if that is the year made? I bought the truck in 2012. Also chucked in a new battery at the same time (removing battery and tray made alternator swap easier) as I noticed it was 5 years old. I swear I just bought it. Funny how that happens. Didn’t do belts because I did them a year ago. When with AGM 24f Interstate from Costco. $179
Anyway in an effort give back to the forum here are some charts and part numbers for the next person.

Put new Osram Night Breaker Laser H1 halogen bulbs in our Depo headlight housing this weekend after one of the old bulbs burned out prematurely. I think the old ones were Sylvania. Whats your guys favorite halogen bulbs? I'm not going to put Leds in the low beams because it sucks for other drives, and we have driving and fog lights from Diodedynamics in the bumper if we need more light.
Our Trail Teq plug and play remote entry system should be showing up on Monday. Excited to get it plugged in, it will be a real nice quality of life upgrade. Thinking of getting a new LC model steering wheel and trying their steering wheel control wiring down the road some time.

Hi,
installed the Trailteq kit as well this weekend, super easy to do and completely plug and play.

I noticed they recently also came out with a flip key option to combine key and remote, might get one of those as well.

most excellent work

Replaced the dying seatback nets with these from @plaidwagon . Waterjet aluminum and press braked with some replaceable parachord.

I looked into OEM but for $100 + shipping I figured I might as well look into and upgrade and came across these. The quality, simplicity and longevity are a great addition.

Trail fix. My passenger door just opened when I lowered the window, lol. I used the switch to lower the PS front window and “clunk” the door opened.

Turns out the window came out of the channel keeper at the bottom. The PO appears to have used black window mastic to glue it in rather than get the replacement filler.

I was able to pull most of that mastic out.

To get back on the road, I cut up a spare MTB inner tube and hammered it back on the glass. I tried to mark the prior location of the channel with tape. Hopefully I’m close, don’t have the FSM handy for measurements. Seems very secure actually…Gonna trim the inner tube and get the glass back in.

Will be replacing both channel and the rubber filler. Hopefully this gets me home. Good times.

Double post.
