What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (42 Viewers)

Nothing funner than going to explore a new trail by yourself and than realizing it was way more technical than you thought after you had commited to the trail. If your with other rigs a trail will seem easy but being all alone certainly makes it seem more difficult .

Anywase here are a few photos, pictures don't do it justice but I was also very busy trying not to poop my pants so I didn't take very many photos of the actual trail.

The switchbacks were tight enough the cruiser couldn't make the turns without backing up.

Once I got on top of the mesa I was stoked because it looks like good elk winter range for my tag next month. Although I am not sure how I feel about the trail if it has snow on it....

Fixed the broken headlight, slapped on the snow tires, and put the wipers into winter mode.

No shame in the bail. Ive been there myself. These days if I’m lucky enough to be out, I have 1-2 very young kids with me so sometimes the slightest off camber situation makes me spin around

Good evening. Wanted to share an 80 story.

After weeks of agonizing, I made the decision to sell my truck so I could take a pause and focus on some family needs.

I was not asked to do this by my wife or son. I’m blessed; they support my Cruiser addiction; so I figured the time was right for me to make a sacrifice.

I’ve spent far too many nights in the garage trying to get things patched up while my son is waiting for me patiently. I DD my truck; it’s not a weekend toy.

I ended up purchasing a new-to-me Tundra, and on the drive home, I was sick to my stomach.

Today has been a struggle. I look forward to my evenings on the forum; it’s basically therapy.

I have made some awesome lifelong friends who helped me talk through this decision. A few said not to do it (LOL) and I should’ve I listened.

Anyway, I will continue to hang out, and I’m already on the hunt for a truck I can build with my son.

I always tell my buddies that the camaraderie is really the best part of the Land Cruiser experience.

I see you got the big boy tundra

I seriously regret every cruiser I've ever sold and the last one was no exception even though it was twice salvaged with a dead motor. The great thing is you've passed it along to someone else who will carry on the cruiserhead tradition, and whenever life circumstances are right, you can always get another one!

I thought I might’ve been goofy putting this post up, but it’s real.
I got my first Cruiser a 40 in 94.
Should’ve kept it sold it for 6K
it would probably be worth 40 today.

I had the opportunity to be the caretaker of an FTE so I know what I’m getting next.
Kept all my rare parts, H152, etc.
So I’m going to source an FTE, build it, and put it in a shell.
My sons a nerd he said if it’s complicated he’s in!
The supercharger is cool. It’s like money in the bank; you don’t have to use it, but it’s just nice knowing it’s there. I’m sure I’ll use it a lot. LOL!
At the end of the day I’m more comfortable in my skin in an old truck.
I decided to name the truck after my buddy @steezy boys nickname BiG Red AKA Rojo!
Anybody that knows me knows I run Steelies.
Sleeper with some Gucci parts in there.
Apologies with clogging up the thread with my Junk!

in sourcing oem out-of-production parts for the sc400 found that for oem the still-available fzj80 brake vacuum one-piece hose can be made into the two needed to replace the out-of-production 1uz-fe hoses
been doing that wherever have to
also 1fz and 1uz knock sensor connectors are same but knock sensors are different part numbers

and...the one-piece fzj80 hose doin' extra duty as two-piece on the 1uz-fe

I calibrated the speedo. Super easy to install and the speedo now matches the gps app I downloaded. So far so good.

Did a pre trip check on mine on Saturday. Heading up the Vic High Country next weekend
tire rotation, engine oil & filter, lubed driveline, checked all diff oils (will change next service), cleaned air filter

noticed a tiny bit of bearing play on drivers side rear (RHD) so pulled the axle and nipped up the bearing screw thingy - took a miniscule amount imagine going from 12 o'clock to 1:30 and its all good now.
