This weekend I decided I'd go and visit my favorite 4x4 shop, between my Tacoma and my Chevy Squarebody I have enough projects to complete so they said they'd be happy to change out all my radius arm bushings and panhard bushings as well as all the rod ends to hopefully relieve me of my wandering and wobbling issues.

Installed an Alpine sound system and a Pioneer head unit. Dash needed a little work to get it to fit...
Also chucked a cheap UHF in. Turns out a micro UHF happens to perfectly fit in the wallet cubby. A little too perfectly as the side bolts stick out too far so I can't seat it all the way in, so it hangs out a little but it doesn't bother me. It means the underside speaker is open to the cab.
And holy smokes Android Auto is so nice! Navigation and music, this 1995 cruiser is in the 21st century now!
Also it's smart enough to work out when the headlights are on, so the map switches to dark mode in addition to the screen dim

Did your head unit come with android auto? I have a pioneer head unit very similar to this but I don't think I have nav for some reason. Maybe I'm using it wrong haha.
Its listed as a selling point on the box, its a Pioneer AVH-Z5250BT. To enable android auto the phone needs to be plugged in via USB. I bought some cheap spacers that include a 3.5mm jack and USB so I have access to the USB from the front. When I plug the phone in, it instantly switches to the AA interface.
It refuses to start unless your car is parked (ie. the handbrake signal is low). My workaround was to short the handbrake wire (light blue/green) to the negative/chassis so it thinks the handbrake is always on.

My older pioneer unit wouldn't pull up CarPlay / Android auto for me with USB, researched it and found out that the USB had to be in the #1 USB slot on the back of the unit. So I had to pull out the unit and make sure I had that USB cable in the #1 slot. Got it back together and carplay pulled up right away.

Have those worked out for you? I think it's hilarious that you're using a chew toy but it also strikes me as something very clever.
I'm just disappointed the spacer isn't a hockey puck.

Part 2 of this... Of course it was overcast when I started, the drizzle the rest of the time.
Got my OEM studs/nuts/gaskets and the bel-metric copper clad exhaust nuts (NCF10X1.25x14) just in case... Happy to report you CAN remove ALL the rear exhaust manifold nuts from the top, you just need the right length stuff to squeak between the firewall bump and manifold. So happy I didn't have to lay under there. I had done the rear seat heater delete previously, but the hard line is still there, so not sure if that helped.
Time to clean up the manifolds and install new outlet studs.

Finally had a few minutes to retorque things after Fall Crawl. 3 of the 4 lower knuckle studs on the driver side we finger-tight. Retorqued everything. Fortunately that was the only thing I found loose. Replaced the dome lights with LEDs. Trying out white in one and blue in the other to see which I prefer.
