How do you like the fly you have off the back off the cruiser? Looks like the same one I just ordered from Amazon.
I love it we got hit with a thunder storm out there. Camping had 25mph gust all night and that thing didnt go any where and it’s pretty easy to set up. It comes in a bag but I roll the post and tie downs up in the fly it’s self and just strap it to the back of the roof rack

So we did a total of like 1500 miles 450 of road in Utah and only had a brake caliper bolt fall out which caused the other to sheer off which put the caliper thru my rim. We pinched the line and swapped the tire and moved on. Thanks to some awesome local guys we got it all fixed the next day. Then the power steering pump went out but we did finish the trip can’t wait to go back

The one on the blower is going to melt.

Went to readjust the torque on my wheel bearing today to take a bit of a slop out of it and find out that whomever was in there before me probably didnt own a 54mm socket

Also, just got 2/3 of my Ironman lift kit in the mail today

I’ll probably get going on installing it tomorrow even before the other 2 springs arrive, which brings me to a very rookie question. I know the springs have different sizes between PS and DS, the question is, are they also different between front and rear? Or I can just pick which end I want to start with, slap those babies on and the finish the other end when I get the other set of coils?

TIA
They are size specific for front and rear.

OME lift installed on the 80...FINALLY. Holy sh*t what a difference! The ride is SO. MUCH. BETTER. It's like a whole different vehicle. Should have done this 10 years ago but it was the wife's daily. Now I have the typical 80 series tire struggle 33 or 35? Likely going with the 33 K02 since I don't plan on wheeling this rig enough to justify a 35 and really don't want to open the money faucet on upgrading gears etc. Power and fuel are already poor enough on these things.

If you're on the fence about a lift- DO IT. It's worth every cent just for the ride improvement alone.
35s. Stock gears. That's how I roll. Just watch out because your speedometer will read 75 and you will be doing 85.

A few weeks back i started working on this little neglected '96..

Everything was original from what I could tell. I stripped her down, did the head gasket as PM and today finally found enough time to fire her up.

Just need to set the timing, tidy up a few bits and bobs and take her for a test run.

Not the weekend technically but I don't have a job right now so every day is a Saturday. Got the body off today and cleaned the frame up (heated pressure washers are AMAZING). Coating the frame tomorrow then prepping the body for paint. WOOT!

The man in the brown uniform showed up with the rest or my Ironman lift kit, so I just got it all done today!
Job went easier and smother than I thought, specially since this was my first time doing suspension work on the 80 and the fact that all the parts I had to touch to get the install done were original, oil leaks included 😛
Overall it gave me 3” in the rear ane 3 1/4” up front!
Now I might need 35s 😬😬

Added some rubber spring isolators to quiet these down. They chatter quite a lot! This photo is the initial placement to see if it worked. It sure did. They are quiet now. I’ll probably re-install on the top coil, then every other coil for the first 6 coils. Thanks again @bajaphile for the solution!

@Surfdc Awesome. Glad it worked. For me I could tell my buzzing was only coming from the top coils that were barely touching each other. I've had them on for a couple years now and still holding up. Long washboard roads are lot less annoying now. (And even just a rough paved road).

Time to give my original 80 some long overdue love. Last year was suspension, mechanical and head gasket, this year is all cosmetic.

Got her all stripped down and ready to head to paint next week. Still need to remove and break down the front bumper.

Keeping the cladding and running boards. This one is staying close to stock. Was happy to see very little rust under the running board caps. The tape is to show where there is a small dent in the board.

All new weatherstripping, window mouldings inside and out and new wiper arms all around and just had new speakers and a 10" sub installed as well.

Thanks to Cruiser Brothers (@orangefj45) for the quick ship on the new running board caps and I was able to pick up a new set of running board mounts in case the current ones rust out on me at some point.

Knocked out the new upper hatch handle while I was at it. As usual, parts from Wit's End coming in handy.

After paint the full interior treatment is next up on the list.
