Random, those blue tanks are from the company I work for
Really!?? They appeared a few years ago and they are somehow involved with a spring that was developed for cattle at the same time they showed up. What exactly are they?

Just storage tanks. Might of been sold to that customer but we usually rent them.
That makes sense. The spring they developed for cattle runs dry for part of the year. The owner must be using them to extend his cattle water.

Took the family and did a little exploring for a couple days for spring break. Gotta love when the wife and kids are cool with spending spring break in the rig and in the dirt!

Then I renewed my registration. I think I might need to get a "Hybrid" or "partial zero emissions" badge for the truck! Not gonna complain one bit about these emissions test numbers on a rig with almost 300K on it. However, if I decide to knock myself off, I'm gonna need to do something different than shutting the garage and sitting inside the running car. I'd be sitting there a long time with these numbers.

I pulled the 5.3 out. Will be doing some engine compartment clean up from the old owner b4 I install the bigger motor. I decided at the last minute to order a new torque converter so that is causing a delay in dropping the new motor in. As part of engine bay refresh I installed the oem firewall insulation the truck didn't have. It is really cheesy. I honestly don't think it will cause any noise reduction whatsoever. It does look nice. I'm also installing a bigger radiator, a engine oil cooler, and replacing any hard to get to hoses.

It measured 149 wet typical, and 179 without taking any deductions (non-typ) as I recall. 4 x 6 lost points. Not sure on the weight, the shop in Flagstaff said it was the heaviest deer they had seen all year. 106 lbs of deboned meat, yes a toad. The taxidermist put the dear between 6 and 7 years old. Called him a rock muncher as his teeth were so worn. He said some deer tend to pull vegetation from very close to the earth and their teeth wear faster. Based upon the teeth, he doubted it would have made it through the winter and definitely not another year.

Last day of the hunt for the boy, a bad hunt physically for him. There was a one morning and one evening he really did not want to go out so I kept the plans lite those days. No more than a mile from the truck, mild elevation changes but still able to glass. It was the most demanding hunt he has had but, the end result made it all worth it for him (and me)!

My brother pulled one from the same area about 5 years earlier, measured 179 dry. Just missed the book.

Great story!! I bet he didn't have any problems quartering that baby and carrying it out. It is amazing what a trophy like this will do for your energy levels! Really great buck! He'll have to work pretty hard to beat it. Beautiful mount! Glad you guys got this one. At that age and condition, you are really doing them a favor. They will either die from the elements or get taken by a predator! Either way, it is a lot more gruesome than getting shot!

Did you lizard skin the fire wall? I understand that provides quite a good benefit. Should have done it when I pulled my engine.

Nothing much this week. 2 of my 5 tires now show as backordered and everywhere I've looked shows the same. Currently stuck with 3 Toyo Open Country 37x12.50x17 MTs.....Dumb

Finally got to my driver/passenger door window motors...replaced the whole assembly in drivers door, worn down brushes and scissor mechanism....the passenger side had plenty more on the brushes so just cleaned, lubed and put back together...works great now!

did sound deadening “while in there” and custom fit JL Audio speaker in doors

Spookily enough one of my rear windows has just died. Power going to the motor but not a click or anything. I guess they just pack up sometimes

A crazy stupid amount of time has gone into this customer’s diffs and knuckles. This time stuff is getting done that I’m not billing the customer for because it’s more about figuring out what I like and what works and what doesn’t work. Originally these were just going to be decreased and be done with it. But I had never used Vapor Hone on cast iron pieces before and I needed to know what to expect. I had never used Eastwood Extreme Chassis paint and I need to know what to expect. Customer gave the ok so we went to town.

Vapor honing brings its own set of issues. Not sure I would do it again for knuckles and diff housings. We shall see. The Eastwood paint seems to be pretty nice. I think I prefer it over the John Deere black I’ve been using.

These all got a mineral spirits bath, two coats of Eastwood primer and two coats of chassis black satin. Then sat for three days.

The diffs are now boxed and heading out to Zuc for gears and locker install.

My experience with the Chassis Black on the awning brackets I made is that it can take several days to cure for sure. Even with a heat lamp keeping them semi warm. Same on brake calipers and baking plates.

This what CXRacing headers look like on a supercharged 80 series If you Install these WITH a supercharger you must fabricate a heat shield that bolts to engine block, as theres lot of melty bits under a TRD SC.

If your motor is toast, like mine, you can grab one from a 4runner or even a Montero. Go to Rockauto.com, find out the part # then find out what other vehicles use the same window motor. From the junk yard, grab few of these motors, then swap one of them out into your regulator while keeping the others as spares. For ex: a 3rd gen 4runner & '05 Montero pass rear window motor was plug n play for my driver front window.

I did take the opportunity to clean the rails in the regulator then lubricate them. Also, removed the old grease from the motor gear box sprocket and applied new grease.
