38s. Little bigger than 37s. Who knew? This was right before the blizzard. The Patagonia’s are unreal. I was able to pull other trucks out in some incredible conditions and get out of spots that seemed stuck - they just keep going.

Kinetic rope is great to have in your rig. Me being dumb, I was selling a full set w/ multiple ropes for $250. Im glad no one bought them. A month or so ago i tried winching a buddy out of a pond. The winch was pulling me in. We hooked up the kinetic rope and snatched him out with ease.
Started the next chapter of this once abandoned '96. Not sure where this will lead but the nest in the radiator is the 4th i have found today.
It’s a game changer. That was ice underneath with incredible dense wind whipped snow. He slid off the road into the side ditch and it took me an hour to get him free. In the meantime, the drifts got so big we barely got out.
4x4 search and rescue showed up in a stock Grand Cherokee with Maxtrax. Overlanders. It took me another 30 minutes to save that guy’s ass.
Got out of this as well, going to pull out my son. Nuts.

Right on, an 80 series in it's true element. Screw this overlanding stuff. I want to see real tents, big fires, and hanging meat. I really think an 80 series is the best vehicle ever sold in the USA for hunting in the western united states.

How would you compare these to the TrXus tread for ice & snow?
Mine gripped good on the rocks of the Dusy Ershim Trail, but do have some rubber chucks missing from that adventure.

Same springs here, but went with the IMS.
I’m finding the ride to be spot on, loaded or unloaded. Not noticing a huge change. Only about an inch of stink bug unloaded. Levels out pretty well loaded. Added more thoughts on the IMS thread.
I was on the fence about the IMS but just didn't have the $$ for it. Heard they are awesome.

Awesome Boar, I wish we got to see more pictures of cruisers with harvested game in the back. Hopefully I get a deer, an elk, and maybe even an antelope in the back of mine this year.
This was in northern Alberta from 2019, hunting with the parents who live in central BC.
It was a good eating moose, we quartered him and then I lifted the quarters on the roof. I dunno what they weighed, probably more with the hide on and they loose weight drying out and hanging at the butcher where the meat dries out.
I’m a big fella but you sometimes need help to get the quarters off the ground on your shoulder, then they’re easier to carry. Had to back the cruiser into a hill and then step up on the tailgate to get him up top.
I’m wearing a black garbage bag to keep some of the blood off when throwing the quarters over my shoulder. Guess that’s why they bring me along for hunting trips. Usually we hunt with a truck but that day I was driving.
Got the brackets back I designed from the shop and welded up a set. They work pretty good I think. I need to paint them then good to go. Let me know if anyone is interested in a set.

I went with them because I realized that this is the modern Trxus, by which I mean it’s a rounded tire that is designed to run only on the inner tread onroad.
They are as good for winter so far and I’d say better in really deep because they pull without necessarily digging to China. That second vid above where my son was in the ditch in his 4Runner was just ice underneath. I was laughing at him as we pulled up, and then I slid off, too. The pull we did with two trucks to extract was with that ice underneath up a pretty good grade. And yea, they’re new, of course.
Onroad I just love this type of tire. It was like gaining caster and an alignment because they track so much better and run softer. Here’s a pic of running at 34 PSI (I’m usually under 30 to soften the tire and get proper tread contact). You can see the narrow contact patch and that you aren’t running on MT tread on the road.
Time will of course tell, how is tread wear on yours? I don’t put all that many miles on my 80 (under 5K annually) so I don’t care much about that aspect.

You can get to places in your 80 that you cannot get to in a truck which means you are hunting in areas where other are not. One of the primary reasons I still have my 80 after 25 years is that I cannot find a better hunting truck. It carries a lot more stuff that any other vehicle that has a solid front axle and 3x locking plus it is more reliable. When I hunt in really remote places, I sleep in the back of the truck.
Installed a ScanGauge, added 1" spring spacers to level and add a slight bit of lift, and changed the oil.
