Started working on my hydro brake install. When I bought the kit from Matt Sweeting, he did not inform me the Ford 1 1/16" MC was ported on the engine side. Not happy with attempting to service them in that area and too close to the plenum. Decided to try to fit a Wilwood MC but ran into a bunch of conflicting info from Wilwood and another vender. Matt apparently is way too busy and took a long time to respond and I don't want to wait. Luckily, Baer Brakes is local. So I spent about an hour and half at their shop and we worked this solution out. On a side note, they were great people and eager to help. AND, talk about brake porn! Wow, should have taken pictures.

Just a mock up...

That looks legit. More and more hydroboost setups being done. First I've seen this Baer setup.

Removed the flares on my '97 to change out the rotting gaskets. Pretty straightforward except for these white/yellow plastic connectors...how do I remove without tearing up the sheet metal? I'm assuming this is simpler than I'm making it or perhaps there's some trick but to my credit, I did try numerous times. Due to the fear of making it worse, I thought I would ask my fellow 80 owners.

They only provided the MC. I will have to do a little work on it, not an absolute plug and play but, I have local support and the amount of work is minimal.

I am pretty sure you can you the panel puller that you use on the interior trim. Maybe put a rag underneath the pivot point to keep from scuffing the paint? That’s what I would do anyway.

Got my washer diverter in the mail, picked up an extra steering box that's gonna get the 105 treatment, got some ac lines to modify, 5 gallons of simple green works wonders for cleaning carbon off anything... and it's cheap, home depot has 2.5 gal containers for 17$ lastly picked up a thing... maybe you can figure out what I have planned 🤔

Chasing down an awesome clunking noise I discovered while in the desert last weekend, I found my wheel bearings were loose. Could be that the last dude in there reused the lock washer once too many times. It was spinning with the lock nut. Also no hub gasket. And this was a “reputable land cruiser shop.” Clunk still there. Will check panhard bar bushings and steering junk next.

It’s finally happening. All of my ⭐️ have lined up. Spent the week pulling off fender flares and the stock running boards. Removed the wiper blades for the front and part of the roof rack with intent to have this rig stripped down to make repainting it a breeze and do it correctly (I hate overspray).

I’m going to correct some dings and scrapes collected along the 27 year way.

I’m closing up the holes on the roof / rear deflector thing since I plan to have a roof rack and maybe a tent. There was some rust forming so no need to add that again.

Painting to commence Monday 3/22/2021. Front guard has tack welds on which will be removed when I get to the paint shop. 4 ribs on the roof, one roof rack side, door handles and all moldings/ rubber I can replace are to be done.

I can't wait to see the finished paint job. Post up the pics in a thread:)

Hrm... what did I do? Well, I f'ed-up quite a bit. My wife and I were playing babysitter for her cousin for a couple of days - "Let's take the Land Cruiser" she said...

Wednesday, we traveled about 100 miles just fine. Then the fun began when we arrived. First, I backed into their recycle bin. No biggie, but evidently the bin hit the wall and stopped moving and that cracked my DS rear tail light housing. Nice hole in the clear reverse lense... Noticed that the next morning.

Then, when returning from shuffling kids around I missed a turn to the house and ended up on a cul-de-sac. Well, there was a branch leaning down in the sac which I hit... slowly. That whacked my antenna, causing the mast to whack into the windshield and put a nice quarter sized crack in it. That kinked the mast as well.

Saturday came home just fine.

So, just now while typing this - I spilled coffee on my keyboard. I'm going outside to get some part numbers for replacing some stuff...

Let's see what I F'up today!

Pulled the factory rack and rear wind spoiler!! Got some work to do. Not sure if I should pull
The ribs or leave them. Installing a bowfin rack and wanted to get ahead of the rust.

Hey FJ80oregon - did you have to remove headliner to do this? I'm about to start doing this project this coming week...hopefully!! I ask cause I know that the nutserts just spin with the bolt and have read that this need to cut off somehow.

If you search there is 10 plus threads on this, but since we are on here for interaction I will oblige. I did not remove liner, I used a hacksaw blade by hand, once they where all removed I cut down the bolts flush and used a step bit to drill out the nurserts. Some say you can get them stuck in the sunroof rails!! Beware. You may get lucky and they all come out and can use ss bolts with washers and seal it that way. Soak for a couple days with penetrating oil, and apply upward pressure on the rail while removing screws. If you don’t have rust than that would be optimal. For me I will be epoxy sealing and spot painting. The headliner sounds like for 95-97 is a two guy 30 minute removal job. Pre 95 it sounds tougher. Post up some pics what you end up with. 🤙Wes

Not much for pictures, but stopped by @Soju house to install the heavy duty battery cables from @Fourrunner.

Fairly easy, but the cable from the battery to the block as a little stubborn. @Soju took the breaker bar to it, and damn near knocked himself out 🤕.

Afterwards @Soju gave me some Gator, and Venison meat 🤸🏽‍♂️

Also did the "Auto Up Window Mod". Had the Diode sitting in the glovebox for a while now.

When I pulled my factory rack I pulled the rails too. Glad i did because there was more rust there. Worst part honestly was removing the adhesive residue.
