Started my rear bumper build, didn't get nearly as far as I had planned. Had to replace my old mig welder, go to the winery with my beautiful wife, and make an unexpected trip to work. At least I got it tacked up well enough that I don't think it will fall off. Hopefully I can get more done this week. All in all a good weekend.
Took the wife up to the mountains:

Changed engine oil, tranny fluid and front diff oil
Also did an A/C evac and recharge
A few weeks ago she was blowin hot and I added a quick can from VatoZone just so we could have some cool air at the beach for the day
Worked great, but I never liked the idea of using pound cans without a proper evac, so the first chance I got, I brought her into the shop, hooked her up and did it right

Thanks Brodie. I have two bushings coming from Wits End. I didn't realize I would need 3 - guess I'll have to pick up another one. I'll check out the bolts as well. I expect getting the old stuff out will be fun. Time for the Sawzall !

Installed new front brake pads that have been sitting on the shelf for the last two years (from when I replaced the rotors/steering knuckle service but pads were still decent). Went on the back roads to bed in the pads, flogged the old crusiers brakes pretty hard (couldn't' activate ABS on a dry road but it was almost to the point of tire screech). I usually drive like an old man hardly using the brakes so a half dozen full pressure stops (60mph down to 20mph) in a row was something different. Also smelly.
Before doing the pads I was worried the front wheel bearing preload would need to be tightened up since I was hearing a slight squeak at low speeds, however there's no slop and with the new pads its nice and quiet.

Not quite 80s but there is not a, “what did you do with your 60 this weekend”.
Pulled the body off the 60 to store it at a buddy’s house for the ‘140 build in the future.

If I may be so bold, I think I should post the upcoming build thread (140 build) in the 80 section, right?
Installed what I think should have been a Factory Option (U.S. Market).

Also worth noting.... the factory striker plate makes a great bottle opener as well.

Yep, built it a few years back out of electrical conduit. I'm 190lb and seems to be holding up pretty well. I tried to paint it with wrinkled finish but it didn't stick planning on repainting the roof rack and ladder when I paint the bumper. Here is a better pic of it.
