after the new bearing do you have any at all play in output shaft ?

There is still slight axial play. This is due to the way that the bearing is held in the tail housing by the retaining ring. I don’t feel any radial movement in it anymore.

Also remember that when checking for radial movement you should be checking while the bearing is hot to allow for proper expansion to occur. When the bearing is cool it should have minimal play, less than a thousandth of an inch.

Spend 60 romantic minutes with the 100. Than was bored. Decided to take a look at my freshly build 80 and my wife said: Hey let's do a video as long as it's clean. This is what we came up with:

In search of anything off-pavement in the Malibu/Calabasas area, and anytime I get my hopes up, and more than 300 feet off the pavement, California stops me dead in my tracks. Even the state Forest Roads are behind locked gates. So much different than AZ....

Most of the FS roads in California are closed due to fire danger. Here in AZ there are highway signs reminding the "not so smart" people about not parking in tall grass as it could start a fire. In no way am I putting you in that category.

Does that logic work, when you consider how many wild fires there are in AZ, where roads are open, verses in Cali, where roads are closed in an effort to “minimize” the risk? Guess there’s way more people in Cali than in AZ, so gotta take that into consideration. That mustard seed (invasive plant species to Cali, I hear) over growing the closed road is like light gauge cable. Stuff will take the paint off your vehicle. Lol

I never said it made sense. Those roads you were trying to access could be closed as it looks like that was a burn area in the last few years. If you are looking to get some wheeling in check out Hungry Valley in the Grape Vine north of Magic Mountian off I-5.

Spent the week camping near Big Bear. The wife and her friends would ride their horses on nearby trails, so me a Jeeper would head out to nearby trails and fire roads. We checked out 2N93: 2N93 Fire Road ; Skyline: Skyline OHV trail ; and Holcomb Valley: Holcomb Valley Trail

All of it was pretty easy in a nearly stock LC. A great place to start. I kept a check on the radiator temp and even up hill with the A/C running we never got over 195 F.

Actually they are off a Range Rover Sport. If I reach out when I am driving slowly I can feel a force of hot air venting through them. I can't say I noticed any difference in the engine temps though.

You can order the vent from the JLR dealership and they come in various colors depending on whatever "special" edition they spit out. It's for sure from a 2011 Range Rover Sport Autobiography as I used to own one, but there's another vent style they use for the pedestrian models as they all come with that side vent. I'm not sure it was all that functional on the RRS to be quite honest. For a pair of those plastic vent pieces I'm guessing you can buy a few of those made in japan big can oil filters.

Enjoyed the Socal sun and getting ready to refresh all four corners this coming week.

Painted my CampTeq top with Hy-Tech Bus Kote. Prior to the paint no way this time of year one could stand on top barefooted or touch it for more than a second. Now I can lay down in total comfort. UNBELIEVABLE difference!!!

Dump run with the trailer to clear out moving boxes and junk from the garage. On the return trip filled the trailer up with firewood from a friends place. On Sunday we went exploring in the forest and found a new creek.

Started working on lowering the LS. RSR springs.

Then, saw a post on facebook, that one of our members needed help. Broken sector shaft, while out camping with his family. So, coordinated with some friends, and headed out with tools and a replacement steering box. Showed up at midnight, popped the tent open, rested, and got to work in the morning.

His 80 broke down by the lake, in a beautiful spot, and relatively flat ground. Made it nice for the repair.

We enjoyed a beer after the work was done.
