^^^^^ make and model please, are they Hutchinson's?
How much do those wheels (without tires) weigh?
I know the oil debate always rages on.. Here's a real world example. I was using parts store 5w30 semi synthetic and for about 10K miles I was consistently putting in a quart every 500 miles (changing the oil at 5K). My valve seals are a little weak and I get a small puff of blue smoke when I start first thing in the morning. This last change I put in Rotella T6 5w40 and just put my first quart in at 2K miles. Definitely worth it to me to cut down on the consumption.
I always run 5W-30 QS in my LC. That's the weight my 710 cap tells me to use.
I did an oil change and I started leaking oil, my oil light kept coming on, I had to add 2 quarts of oil to my engine during my change cycle and I was concerned that I suddenly had a serious issue going on.
I discovered that I had inadvertently poured in 10W-30 at my last change instead of the 5W-30.
I did a new change with all 5W-30 and I have not had to add oil in the last 1500 miles and my leaking stopped.
I'm using Toyota YZZD3 oil filters all the time, so it's not an oil filter issue. I'm at 292K now. HG was done at 145K.
I've been getting some blow by around my PCV valve lately, so I finally took a minute to look at it. I replaced it ~11k miles ago and it's hard as a rock!
Honestly that was a big surprise as I replaced it with OEM. I figured it would have lasted longer. But it chipped, split and broke off in hard chunks as I was pulling it out.
Was I expecting too much thinking I would get more time/mileage out of it?
54lbs 3oz.

Ouch!
Extra rotating mass = decreased acceleration and increased breaking distance!
logical SpockI think Aloha Jen has the highest post to like ratio of any member. Glad to see you back on the 80's forum.
