funny was thinking I was jinxing myself too, by writing how my 3fe is just fine. Yep- knocking on Wood.
My first car when I was 16 was an 88 fj62 I gave my dad $400 for. It's the same drivetrain as my 91. The old man bought it with 140,000 miles and it had 312,000 when I got it. It was rusted away and all I ever had to do to it was a radiator, brakes and rebuild a hub. I drove it to 345,000 and it was still running when i sold it. It never had any engine work done the entire time my family owned it. I always remember driving that thing up i80 in salt lake over parleys summit for work and wondering when it would blow up. Now those memories comfort me when I am 80 + miles from the nearest paved road in my 91.

Pressed out old blue caster bushings and installed OEM rubber bushings....then Landtank 2.5 lift caster plates from Wit's End.

TIG welded front and back on plates.

Then installed 20mm spacers up front...no more "stink bug" look...

Rides and steers so much better, by far worth it ;)...no more "darty" steering....ride improved with OEM bushings

So I pulled off the lower oil pan and found it caked in metal shavings. 🤢Instant gut twister.🤮 Thought for sure that I spun a bearing and needed a short block. Being how big the shavings were I just had to tear it down more to find where.

Pulled the upper pan and absolutely no metal shavings...🤔Looking and see no signs of wear anywhere. Decided to pull the timing cover and look closer. Finally checking chain slack I noticed on the aluminum guide where the plastic liner had broke off was an area the chain was slapping and potato peeling the metal off!🤯

Gonna pull the rest apart and measure. Hope to just get some rebuild parts and get her back together! 🤞 @beno Still making rebuild kits?😅

🤷‍♂️No idea why it posted this pic again on the end but won't let me delete either!😅Guess to give y'all the gut wrench again!

Cleaned all the mulch out from under the cowling below the windscreen. Also fitted my little lightforce leds to the @yodaTEQ ditch light brackets.

Last trip of this season.
Trans-Negev from Jordanian deserts to Egyptian deserts. Three days and two nights. East to west across the entire State of Israel and the desert of the Negev. On Passover, the army opened the territories along the border with Egypt. All year round the area is closed for travelers. We ended the tour of the land barrier that was built between Israel and Egypt to prevent the passage of illegal immigrants and migrant workers from Africa who flooded Israel until the land barrier was established. This is the obstacle President Trump wants to build between the United States and Mexico

Must be an exciting experience to cruise in a Japanese car on Palestinian lands.

By the way the land barrier is guarded mainly by woman Arab and Jewish alike, 70% in Caracal (local Bobcat)
The situation is much more complicated than what you read in the newspapers

Decided to tidy up the main harness now that the EGR has been slayed and this is what I uncovered.

Stripped it all back to see what nasties were hiding. A couple of aftermarket splices but they look professional.

I am planning on pulling the whole harness and doing a full test and rewrap.
Standby @beno for the inevitable "need it now" parts order...

Those are OEM connections with OEM tape on them.

after doing the chasing circles and replacing the whole harness with new OEM i wouldn't do it any other way. No brittle wires to worry about now and can expect another 20 years before i need to start messing with any of it hopefully. Worth the $400 and peace of mind.
Now i can swap a harness in <2 hours!

That was the first thing that entered my mind and $400 would have been well worth it. Only fly in the ointment is that the '94 harness is now officially on @beno unobtanium list.. Still available for '95 onwards...
