The volvo portal axles were amazing. Had a great weekend wheeling with the local club

@2fpower , how do you like the gearing?
I went from basically 4 to 6 with the gearing, so about a 30% reduction. Uphill is awesome to crawl that slow. Torque feels amazing. Downhill letting the engine slow you down is also great. Driving on the roads is fine, as long as you don't have to be on the highway. I would say with 35" tires, my top speed is about 45. Once I put on the 39.5 that should increase.

Swapped out the old Duralast alternator on my son’s 92. Apparently it was put in in 2002. VatoZone warranted it. 20 minutes and she was back up and running.

Picked up a extra t-case from @kbFJ60 for a little 3:1 and UD project.

Took the family out last weekend for a quick camp along the coast.

Then, went wheeling at Hollister Hills and met up with a crew of 9 80s. We outnumbered the Jeeps and Full Size Towmobiles! Pretty sick.

going to get my last sniff test for my 94,100 yards from the test station and it pops the CEL on.
dammit,pulled a 28 and 71.
going to clear them out and try again tomorrow.

are you trailering or driving out to trails, if the latter how are those axles on the road. looks amazing.

Thanks for your compliments. There are more details on the What the FOO thread.

Foo has been a trailer queen for a while. Most of our wheeling is 3 hours away from town, and with family, just makes sense to trailer.

Top speed right now is likely about 45, so not going to set any speed records; however, it really is smooth on the road... I think better than before.

Thanks! Yeah I know a cubby will bolt in there and I probably have the one out of my 4Runner still laying around somewhere. I'm just trying to think of something more useful or cooler to put there. I never really used the cubby in the 4Runner because stuff would just fall out of it so I ended up putting a CB there.
one of those combo altimeters/yaw/pitch inclinometer things would be cool!

Smh sold her.. already have sellers remorse but Autumn is going to a good home
