We were southeast of Blue Ridge, GA. I thought we were on a different Forest Service Road (FSR), off of FSR 35. However, once we were out, I realized that it was an unmarked side trail. If I had known that at the time, I never would have gone down it.

yea 35/95 connects hwy60 to old dial,i now know where you were at.
were you guys using maps or gps?
the forest service has great maps as does national geographic(#777&#778 for n.ga),a good too trail map will keep you on track.
lots of private property on the south side of 35 towards old dial road/toccoa river

It's cool to get help when needed, even Jeep help. I've rescued numerous rigs on the beaches with my CJ, it happens. Especially in conditions like you were stuck in, looks like sticky slick mud and leaves, mix in a little snow and you really have a party.

Chopped my second sway bar drop bracket. This one went much more smoothly than the first and in truth had it done in ~10min.

The first, on the left, is a pretty sorry looking attempt. That said it’s fully functional and will be placed on full duty. The right one is marked to show how much wider it is than it needs to be. Anyone know if a ~.25” difference will adversely affect anything?

please elaborate. I don't understand the "false doctrine" comment, is it your perception it is false that slippery sticky mud and leaves combined with snow makes traction worse?

My truck has been throwing a P0130 code for a little while which I knew was related to my O2 sensor and I have been planning to replace it. Then weekend before last it also threw a P0133 code which is also related to the O2 sensors. (actually they are fuel trim codes but I was confident that the fuel trim was off because of bad O2 sensors). Anyway I took it in to have them replaced. Turned out to just be wiring where the harness crosses over the tcase had worn through the sheathing and the wires were damaged. The wiring was repaired and turned out the O2 sensors are working just fine.

On the upside, my fuel economy improved (which I hoped it might) from 12-13mpg to 15mpg. I'll take that considering all the crap that is bolted to my truck. Repair cost me less than the cost of one O2 sensor. Win, Win.

Lol no, that’s a truth I can attest to. The other part concerning accounts of jeeps rescuing people, even on more than one occasion...my guess is that someone put a Jeep costume on a 40 or photoshopped it in.

Haha! to be honest, most of the "rescues" I have done in my CJ are on the beach out on long island, those needing rescue generally only have themselves to blame. They get the 4wd fishing vehicle permit, never read the pamphlet on properly airing down and having the required equipment, and then proceed to get their x5 or something like it stuck in soft sand...and floor it trying to get out. I will pop them out once, but not twice if they do the same silliness.

This season my 80 will be on the beach, and considering the experience level of those that do get stuck, I will make them pay by agreeing to give me a picture of them in front of their stuck BMW, which i will then promptly post here. Looking forward to it.

Lots of folks like to chatter, but Ill tell you I was the only person that actually stepped in and got the vidtim off the hood of the moving stolen vehicle and out of harms way, and then the police asked If Id use the LC to block the road as there is only one way in or out of the town/Island I live on. twice in 45 days The land cruiser has done the polices job and then pulled a women to =safety when the ocean got angry and the NAt guard watched from thier up armored frankenstien Land cruisers dont need no sticking badgers.

After 21 years and 254,000 miles of faithful service I retired the radiator. Picked up a new Denso unit from RockAuto. Ordered while at work on Friday and was at my door Saturday afternoon.

6 days trucking around Death Valley - had a loss of oil pressure while ‘out there’ and traced it back to a sheared oil pressure sending unit harness - bought a soldering iron and some electrical tape in Bishop, CA and performed a parking lot soldering job!
Oil pressure back!

Not the tidiest of jobs but it got me home!

Then a buddy of mine was having all kinds of problems with his new 2016 trail edition 4runer - running rough - high idle - tracked it down to a sheared spark plug connector terminal wire - out comes the soldering iron for another parking lot rescue job.

Everyone needs a buddy with a landcruiser!
