  • 115 lb for the three person (the one I got).
  • 95 lb for the two person.

Eventually I think I'll lean towards a hardshell but this will suffice in the meantime.

In addition to the light weight, Yakima (being all things Yakima) has come up with their own style of quick mount attachment. It is a clamp style with keyed locks and adjustability for round, square, and oval, bars at almost any spacing. Pretty slick if it holds up. Time will tell on how durable it is.

My tent is so damn hard to install. I would love something like this

Took a little road trip to lincoln Nebraska this weekend. Figured we'd stop by one of my favorite Iowa landmarks on the way back since my daughter loves cows. She was terrified lol, said the cow was too big! Of course the 80 performed flawlessly! Even though I had to turn off OD and run 3k+ rpms for most of the trip to stop the constant downshifting. It was a little cozy on the inside with 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 dogs, but it made for another memorable trip :)

No kidding? Where at? I've only had it once in DM actually. I've been wanting to try it again. I'll add it to my list of things to eat when we go there next.

@offroadvegan - I swear I have been there before. Is pelican brewing just to the left of that pic?

wow that is light. sweet score.

technically the past 10 weekends...... but I did the following:

1. cleaned & painted valve cover, new gasket
2. removed all the emissions garbage
3. new spark plugs, wires, and seals
4. new fuel filter
5. super cleaned intake manifold & TB, new gaskets
6. all new heater hoses
7. new power steering fluid reservior
8. PHH workaround kit from Wits' End, Solutions for Problems You Didn't Know You Had
9. painted all the chrome black (grill & headlights)
10. winch!
11. Rebuilt distributor
12. lots of random bolts/hoses/seals/gaskets/etc

Started before Thanksgiving, finished yesterday. SO HAPPY TO HAVE THE LAND CRUISER BACK!!!!!!!!
Could have paid someone to do it all but I know so much about it now having gone through all this. And with what I am planning on doing with it, that knowledge is very valuable.

I built some rear shock lower bolt guards. Built them from 2x1/4 DOM tubing. I still need to paint them though. It is really close to the shock body, so I may flatten the top on the next batch and possibly adding a lower skid as well. If you want a set, here is where they will be for sale. Good weekend with Brienne. Changed fluid in both diffs, replaced plugs with Wits End hex heads. Replaced leaking power steering pump with a reman unit from O'Reilly with all new hoses. Also cleaned up the gear before reinstall. Burped the radiator a second time, we will see on that fixes the cool heat issue.

That truck has a S/C, ~2" lift, small-ish 315 mud tires, and stock gears; mpg figures are corrected for tire size, correction factor validated by GPS:
75mph or below: 13+ mpg, best was 13.6mpg;
75 - 85mph: 11mpg;
85 - 90mph: 10mpg:
80 - 85mph into a ~20mph headwind: 10.5mpg

FINALLY got a chance to offroad my rig after installing a lift (3" TourFlex) a couple of weeks ago. Quick stop first to see @reevesci for some forklift flexing, then off to a familiar trail at the Chappie OHV Park near Shasta Dam. Had a blast...the added clearance I'm liking a lot, and the rig is smooth and compliant now - no jarring on the rough stuff any more. A fine start to the weekend.

For grins, a pic of the Cruiser in its natural habitat:

What rack is that?

and for the last 50 miles, we took the shortest route on the map - 30 miles of dirt and 5,700 ft elevation change :steer: - finally, the truck got to use low range, after more than 5 years of our acquiring it :rolleyes:

View attachment 1631064 I really wanted to go with a York but with no more bracket kits available I had to go with plan B.

Got the arb twin installed this weekend. Works better then what I expected. I'm not sure if I like the air coupler in side but we'll see how it goes.

Awesome! Where did you bolt the bottom of the strips? Also did you run wire back from the battery via the frame channel?

Wrenched in the freezing rain trying to sort out my code 52, and stickered up my new RTIC 65.

Did the ohm test and had no resistance which points me to my wiring...ugh.
