What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (32 Viewers)

17x8 with 5.5 backspacing with 1" spacers.... so effectively exactly stock (8" wide and 4.5" BS). Something that is helping is that these 13.5s only measure 12.75" actual on the wheel.

I was leaning more towards the Indel B for this reason, measuring out how much space the 63 qt takes is quite intimidating. More room than my 70qt Coleman marine. Exterior is wider and taller, with the interior space being a little smaller. I’m lactose intolerant so I don’t think I even use 6 gallons of milk a year. I usually don’t cool my water bottles when I wheel and a bottle of wine uses less space then a 12-pack. Luckily Scotch doesn’t need to be cooled.

We have the 63qt and my wife and I drink quite a bit of beer when camping. Often will be off the grid for 1-2 weeks and it is plenty large enough. If I were going to do it over again, I'd probably just get the 45qt.

I wouldn’t mess with angle iron because it won’t slide over rocks as well especially laterally. The angle shape is not as strong. It will look like an after thought.

Why not just go straight to the DOM or other thicker wall tube? Doing so would give you the opportunity to lengthen them to account for your lift. Yes, I know, you’d then need to lengthen the uppers. That's why I just went ahead and bought the MT adjustable set.
I need to replace the bushings in them. So my plan is when I pull them to do so I'll straighten it in the press then reenforce them with some 1/4" angle iron. If that fails I'll look at making a new set out of DOM.

In other news I'm really torn looking at fridge options. Having a hard time choosing between the Indel B 51qt or the EdgeStar 63qt. The 63qt would make my trips to town for grocery shopping much easier :hmm:.
I've gone months on the road in my dodge with a 3 way fridge then upgrades to a modern electric one like you guys use in your cruisers, After 7 years, I like my Yeti 45 better. Precool and dry ice If I'll need cold ones for more than 10 days. Better deal too. My 2 cents.

Are you sure you don't work for Yeti? :)

I've said it a million times, but the Edgestar shipped to my door for $290 was probably hands down the best camping purchase I've ever done! It was that or buying a Yeti for more. But, even when/if this thing craps out I'll buy a more quality one to replace it. A lot of places I travel to is really hard to find ice, its often hovering about 90F during the day with not much shade. I just can't see a cooler, even a Yeti being able to keep up with that. Even on weekend trips, its nice not having to deal with ice... !!

At some point you should drink them though.

Nope, certainly don't work for Yeti, it just works best for me, it will keep ice for 2 weeks in my truck camper in the hot weather, no electric use, and is simple, nothing really to break. So when you travel you store enough electricity to stay put for days at a time. I have solar and 2 6 volt golf cart batteries and a fridge uses those up in a couple days. But if you are always driving and charging I guess a fridge could work better. Just my 2 cents.

Yes! Blipshift!!! Made my Friday.

I’ve been doing the marine cooler with (4) frozen 1 gallon jugs in it. It stays cool for 4 days in the desert heat, but need the ability for easier/convenient options. Refreezing while in the road is not an option, can’t always find dry ice, and the ability to always have it available is what is pushing me towards a fridge. I get tired of having to go get the cooler and ice every time I go to the grocery store, I don’t live in town. And with the heat we get here I don’t like having my raw chicken cooking in the back.

I’m a Yeti guy myself. Have a 75 and a 35 that fits well in the 4x4Labs cargo basket on the swingout. Someone told me that I would freeze my food if I used dry ice when was prepping for a three week trip last fall so I use only water ice mostly in block form.

I put tie downs just inside the rear passenger doors on the vertical portion where the floor rises up to the second row seat platform. I then set the Yeti 75 right where the second row seat would be and strap it down. It never has to move because I made a water drain hose that extends past the door sill by drilling a hole in an extra drain plug and epoxying a clear vynil hose into it and of course plugging the other end too.

This keeps the weight mid-ship and the cooler accessible while motoring down the road.

The big Yeti does take up more space in the cab but it’s fool proof and the ice lasts an incredibly long time. I don’t think a fridge will ever be on my “to buy” list.

Project Toystory begins. As a newb, I got to start somewhere so why not the easy ones. With leftover parts from the prior owner, I replaced the original 1995 radio with an OEM of 1997 vintage. Replaced the burnt out bulb in the antenna switch and installed the OEM cup holder.

If anyone can answer, in the last pic what is the gray connector for? Did I miss something? Thanks.

Next, replace both DS PS side mirrors held by a combination of tape and velcro.

annual ritual taken care of this week. Sure would be easier if I didn't try to keep my truck pretending to not be a complete pile. But each winter I end up trying to clean up my wheels from a years worth of rock rash. They were looking pretty rough again so I sanded them down to bare aluminum and resprayed them. They've been all black, but I was itching for a change. Used VHT wheel paint (The VHT paint has given the best results from my experience). Tried Duplicolor - hated it. Plastidip sucks on wheels. Rustoleum is decent. VHT has been the best IMO. I used Graphite color for the centers and Satin Black for the rock rings and hit the whole thing with a few coats of clear.

Nice change from the black.

Something I'm going to do. Need to research and order some 4x6 sealed beam LED projector retrofits.

Was debating between these and retrofitting projectors into my Depos, decided I preferred the end product with the quad headlights though it will cost more to get there.

where did you source the headlight buckets, trim and housings? Cost?

That grey connector is the one you'll use when you replace that stereo with a decent aftermarket one.

Thanks! That gray one threw me off like having extra screws left after assembling something.

No aftermarket for me. I will pretty much will keep the interior as stock as possible and limit drilling holes. :)

Rebuilt the from axle today due to the leaking inner axle seals. Also discovered that the knuckle cap was a little beat up on the portion that hold the trunnion bearing. Replaced the bearing and used the spare cap I had on hand.

Searched for individual headlight parts on Ebay AUS and then messaged the seller when I saw some and asked if he would ship over the whole set.

Total cost was ~$300 CAD for the lights and another $95 to ship. Note the quad headlights have different corner lights so you'll need those also.

It’s funny. Fridge vs cooler is one of those things that people are pretty adamant one way or the other. I always used a cooler but made the switch to a fridge. Now that I have I will never go back to a cooler. I leave it in my truck, year round, filled with bottled water and Gatorade. Always have cold water.

Not saying a cooler is wrong, just not for me.
