Went to Death Valley this last weekend with the Waywegos 4x4 Club. I would like to give a big thanks to @Deathvalleypaul who had organized 3 days of trails and I have to say the scenery was breathtaking. The cruiser did great although it guzzled $250 of fuel for the weekend. Mostly because the fuel up there cost $4.50 a gallon. Camped out at the Shoshone park and visited a few mines and ghost towns during the trail runs. Last minute things I had to get to literally a day before going was finding a spare 37" tire and installing a radio. Luckily I found a whole set of used Procomp MT2 with 60% thread for cheap locally and mounted one on a set of TRD wheels I had at the shop. Next I installed my first radio which was a Yaesu FT-8900R in the glove and got to chatter with the rest of the group. Got to play in the mud a little and drink some . Pretty much a perfect weekend. Anyways, on to the pics...

Why didn’t you just buy the actual shifter boot?

Because as an 80 series owner I wanted it quick, fast, and in a hurry.. oh and cheap also.

Kidding... I just had an idea and executed it. Theoretically it will last longer than a replacement since it’s stationary and impossible to wear out now.

It snowed agani here in GA, so I went out to check on the roads. Pulled a guy in a 2017 Lexus LS F Sport out of a ditch.. he had slid off the road going up a hill and hit someones mailbox. The Cruiser chugged away no problem.

Then I had a little meeting with a concrete wall. Was going down a steep hill (it was completely iced.. not your typical Georgia half-melted slush) probably around 30-35mph due to the hill. Hit a slight corner and the back end popped out. I was able to correct the slide, but that just spun me the other way (hooray for physics). Ended up doing a 180° on a bridge, jumped the curb, and hit the wall with my DS front corner (said wall would normally be on my PS). It’s a 93, so no airbags, thankfully...that would have been a mess. All in all, it held up nicely. Pics of the damage:

@Nay did some straightening, but believe he used a shop given the extent of his boo-boo, or should say the driver that hit him.

I’ve bent front frame rails easily with a hi-lift jack.

This was badly needed. The starter was very unhappy with the cold weather and was getting to the point that I was scared of being stranded somewhere. Sorry about the messy garage.

I think I'm right with you. The last couple times I've moved the truck around it took a couple tries on the switch to crank over. Which one did you go with? I've been reading about them and would like to upgrade (I have the 1.4kw). I can get the 2.0 pretty easy but it seems the 2.2 is pretty unattainable nowadays (even when I look it up by the part number it comes back with the 2.0 automatically). I'll probably swap it when I do my knuckle service and PHH... Another $125

wow didn't realize,mine is still there and I'm sure its original,i'm planning on a couple hours to replace it but the way things go for me a couple days would be the norm.........

I actually have yet to install a new one. Have the parts but I’ve been putting it off for some time ... maybe when it feels like at least 60°f up here I’ll go in for the kill. May just relocate it and save myself some hassle. No clue what the lines are up to under there.

I went with the Denso rebuilt 2.0 “cold climate” one from rock auto. It was priced well and most of the feedback here on mid was it was a decent route to go.

Hah! Thanks. It'll work out. I'm glad it was just me, and no other motorists/pedestrians were involved. Also, don't think the damage will be too hard to fix. We shall see.
