It has taken me a month of puttering but the Land Cruiser lives after its year long hibernation!

It is running a little rough and I'm hoping it is a combination of year old gas with the tank on empty and the ECU doing its baby steps. I'll check the timing tomorrow. So far no apparent leaks or gas smell. I may have a vacuum leak. Boo!

I replaced the faulty EGR VSV and all the hoses under the manifold.
Replaced all heater hoses and my wonky heater mixer.
New valve cover gasket so I could reseal my leaky half moons.
Since the injector rail mocked me, I had the injectors cleaned locally.
Replaced the leaky crankshaft seal and oli pump cover gasket.
Replaced my leaking distributor o-ring. A little oil film in the distributor. I cleaned it and will monitor.
New belts
New spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
New PVC, grommet and PCV hoses.
Replaced the leaking low pressure power steering hoses. I may still have a leaking power steering pump, but will clean and monitor.
Rehabbed my blue fan clutch with ~17.5K oil. Tools R Us helped me do ten years ago or so. The oil is light yellow.
Changed the oil and a half dozen other small things.

I'll check the timing tomorrow, drive around and hope that it passes smog test tomorrow. Cruiser gods willing it will take us on a snow run to N AZ on Monday.

And I'm pretty sure I have a misfire as the timing is spot on. :frown: :bang:

I'll check the injector harness connections if I can and the spark wires. Booooo!

Did you use a new OEM blend valve or find another solution. I seem to remember hearing that NAPA has a metal one but can't find the part number or even the conversation on MUD. Dorman? The voices in my head have confirmed it has to be real. They never agree on anything.

I haven't searched too hard but I've heard the same. A cursory search at Oreillys only yoelded plastic ones. I have an OEM in my spares box.

I went OEM. A wee bit pricey.

Visited Manzanar. Sobering experience. Then I taught my 9 year old how to drive.

Ok, can I cheat and state that this was done over a few weekends?

Washed, clay bar, wet sanded (1500 & 2k), compounded, and waxed

Cleaned interior, conditioned leather, removed old wood trim, fixed sun visors with magnets

New radiator, oil change, OME stock height springs

New paint on both bumpers and hood - done by a Benz certified shop

Cleaned the motor with toothbrush and SimpleGreen (does wonders!)

Replaced the broken antenna

Pressure washed the rust free underbody

Added a few surf stickers to the windows

Made sure my locks work :)

Slowly getting her cleaned up!

Teach her NOT to wrap her thumbs around the wheel.... :) Might lose a thumb offroad one day...

Good job getting her behind the wheel. I started my sons at a similar age - fun for all!

cheers,
george.

Well, I was able to temporarily solve my misfire. Snow tires on the 4Runner!:bounce:

The family of 5 will be cramped, but a snow vacation waits on nothing.

how is that trail? I might run it this weekend
I didn't run the full 50 mile track as time was short, but what I did drive was in great shape. That said, it rained today, so conditions likely changed.
