midfat replied to the thread ICON Stage 3 Kit.
I have over 70k miles on my "Stage 3" Icon kit. They've been outstanding. I know the rebuild cycle is supposed to be around 30K, but I subscribe to the "if it ain't broke and leaking, wait till it's broke and leaking" theory. I'd just call up...

Tool doesn’t have an adjustment for gears, but I’m guessing you’re correct. The speedo sensor is on the transfer case front drive flange, so axle speed is relevant to the diff gear ratio. I think the plan is to program the second set of wheels at...

Reviving this thread. Have had a Marks4WD in the drawer for several years, but just got around to installing it yesterday. I’m running 37s with 4:88 gears on my ‘97. “Program 1” (OEM tire size) is set to 275/70r16. “Program 2” is set to 37x17. My...

Absent input from an engineer, I would go with 9 foot pounds, which seems to be what's indicated in the Standard Bolt Torque Specifications section of the FSM for an M8x1.25 stud with no groove on the end:

I'm almost tempted to drive to So Cal just so Alfredo can whisper sweet nothings to my windshield and keep it from leaking.

Clearly you're too intelligent to shop new cars because the stealership is the last place you go to for good guidance let alone perfection 😆 In the era of Google, there's really no excuse to not search first, then ask. Y'all too nice :grinpimp...

In my eyes, would look even better with more tire, less sidewall aka 17s v 18s. Those aftermarket brakes would look even more filled out. You get more bang for your visual buck and less tearing up of your 80.

I beg to differ, but that's just me.

That sounds miserable for any USA road trip. You're getting smoked by semi-trucks on the regular. The hwy NVH would wear anyone down. Toyota got it right with the stock gearing and tires. Quality AT/MT 37s and 4.88s is the sweet spot imho.

I do like those little guys. Local friend has two he built. The white one was a recent pickup that had been used at an off-grid island cabin. Toyota axles! And they’re good for pulling out stuck jeeps Re: my last post - should have said...

Here's my adjustable filter wrench. It's a bit banged up, but it fits all types. :hmm: When installing filters, put a smear of oil on the o-ring, turn it on by hand until the o-ring is in contact, then go about a half turn more, that's it

midfat replied to the thread 1FZ-FE exhaust - finally.
I am running a Delta rear bumper. If I had a plastic bumper, I think this routing could pose more of an issue. As it is now, the exhaust routes to nearly the edge of the bumper, so most of the exhaust gas flows out the side or up through the...

My solution on the tailpipe, if it is of value. Tried running without the rear resonator, but the whistling drove me crazy. Ended up reinstalling and rerouting. Very happy with the outcome. Aside from the stainless turndown, all the tubing is...

midfat reacted to mudgudgeon's post in the thread Subtle steering wobble while braking with Like Like.
I'll put money on it being due to wheel bearing adjustment. Have had this occur on more than one vehicle. Always shows up with light braking, like washing of a little speed before a corner, or the last 30' when stopping at lights

Popped a head gasket. Pulled motor. Decided that a factory new short block wasn't all that much more than rebuilding the existing short block, which I figured was worth doing since the motor had 250K and was already out of the truck. Now I have...

Appreciate the input. I just stepped up to 37" tires, and though I can't pinpoint that as a moment I began to notice the wobble, the timing is suspect. Entirely possible that the added diameter of the wheels is exacerbating an already worn or...

Regarding warped rotors, search for this white paper: (I would link directly to it, but mobile + Google makes it a PITA to get the URL of a PDF)
