Can't wait!!

Need to get away!!
Had I known your FZJ was triple locked,
I would have planned a day on the rubicon for you. The snow adds a pleasant beauty and, at times, an unmistakable tightening of the sphincter muscle.

Good? Good in ice and snow too? or mainly for dry? I am thinking to sipe my Falkens..they are most terrible in snow and ice!
Both. I am loving my new KO2's. Today was our second major storm with 4" of snow and ice. These tires got me all around Portland with almost no slippage. Cars are littering the sides of all the rounds around here. They worked better than my old Duratracs which also did well in the snow and ice.

Tested out the drawer storage I built with a camping/ hunting trip.

They are great in the snow. Excellent. No slipping at all.

I couldn't believe how great the BFG AT KO2s are. I've always run the older generations and thought they were good. Night and day difference.

Thanks. I had the 1st Gen of the A/Ts on my 93 4Runner. I can't wait to get the shoes on my LC before the weather here in WV really turns to crap.

:steer:

Let's do it!

Stopped at the gas station this morning. A 2nd gen 4Runner pulled up next to me. "Man, I need an 80 series. That thing is so cool! Solid axles. Lockers. I need one. Want to sell it?"

Haha. The envy was palpable!

And my 80 isn't even built up yet! Besides the 2" lift.

Let's do it!
Dude, you are crazy! You need your rig to be road worthy for you travels. Besides that mine is sitting out front stripped down waiting for a third coat of Monstaliner. And on top of that, I have zero vacation time left. You and your son really need come out again in the late spring or early summer so a few of us can show you a good time on the Rubicon. That time of year is best IMO because it's not hot and dusty yet and the forest service hasn't prohibited camp fires yet.

This trip is about creating memories and stories!

I've never been to Rubicon before. Are there parts that are less challenging? Less damage prone?

Also planning to hit Moab...

I had the 3.5 inch OME lift on my truck before I swapped to the Slee 4 inch lift. The difference is day and night. If you go with the entire Slee 4 inch kit, it allows you to get your truck back into the proper configuration for a lift of that height and it shows in the ride - offroad and onroad. I'd consider the heavies. You don't have to add that much gear to your truck to make the heavies more appropriate. I added the Slee rear bumper with both of the swing-outs plus a 3/4 inch plywood tool box and somewhere around 500 lbs of tools and the ride if fabulous. This lift is well thought out. If you have questions, call Slee and ask them. They are honest and up-front about what will work best for you based on what you plan to do with your rig.

Thanks for the info. I ended up calling Christo yesterday and ordering a set of rear springs. I went with the mediums because he told me that they were about the same spring rate as my 864s. I think the 864's were slightly too stiff for me, but too short to match my J + 1" spacer front setup. I will probably order Slee 4" front springs after Xmas to match and just refresh the front end.

The 3.5 miles from Loon lake to Spider lake is not too bad but who knows what the snow and ice will be like when you are here.

Officially 3X Locked! First time and it locked right up! At the dealership today they had record of "front locker wiring melted, removed" from 1997. 19 years and it popped right off.

View attachment 1366774 View attachment 1366773 Can someone snap a pic of where the front locker wiring harness routes? I got it connected but have an absurd amount of leftover harness. The harness is wrapped to protect from heat but not sure how that area would be near the exhaust. And have no idea where the clips pop in to.

Thanks.

Here's the best pics from when I did mine.

I'll be able to make it happen. Waiting on final pricing now. I'll be bring some in bare metal and some in RED powdercoat.

They will be ready for @LS1FJ40 when he rolls through I hope.

Jason

Yep. Either bare or red powder works for me. You got until the 26th/27th!

Are you going to make it down to Flaming Gorge with us?

I sold all of the prototypes last night and as soon as I get the pricing form the new cutters, I'll order more. I'd say bare is going to be your best bet.

Yes, I should be able to make it down to wet a hook.

@Izzyandsue Thanks for pointing out the LED lapse I had. Pulled it all apart today and reversed the bulb....nothing...then I wiggled the connector around and it worked fine. MUCH better. I thought it just looked like that bc that is how it looked even before I changed the bulbs...so something connected. Thanks!

Also got my interior LEDs for the map, dome, and door lights. I bought them off eBay and got them all for $15 shipped. They even sent me 5 extra dome lights. Work great. If anyone would like the seller name let me know.

Here is an LED and an older bulb comparison. I will get some night shots this evening.
