They put on a very nice Halloween night for the kids at the camp. Was beautiful there with fall foliage. And best my little witch had a great time being out doors again.

Following a semi is weird you have to have just the right distance. I know on my trip across the country I tried it a few times and you can get in a weird spot that the draft winds must be coming back together, because it would make my CB antenna on my front bumper whip around like crazy. Move 20ft up or 20ft back and it would go away. If I moved up though I felt like I was just too close for comfortable long distance driving.

Found the best way ever to increase gas mileage. It's awesome!

120 miles at 1/4 tank

Sweet! The money you save on gas should be put in to a "I have to replace my windshield because I followed a semi too closely and it kicked up a rock and cracked my windshield and I had it replaced and now it leaks, sonuvabitch!" Fund.

Day started out as a solo adventure and headed towards Cameron Pass.

70 degrees in the Fort, and then low 50s as I turned off toward Long Draw Res.,

By the time I got to the end of the road (13 miles), looking into RMNP., it was 30 degrees! Stopped and had the place to myself with some homemade chocolate chip cookies and a thermos of Whiskey Barrel Coffee.

Then this guy greeted me on the way down. One day I'll collect enough preference points.... one day.

Finished switching out the old suspension with new springs and shocks all around. Went with the 2850's in front and 2860's in back.

This was a pretty big job....which seemed way easier when reading how to do it, but ended up being a bit more challenging. Full disclosure on my part....was that my involvement on this job was really only about 10% on the wrenching side, not counting researching/finding all the applicable write ups to get the job done. The bulk of the work was done by my new live-in mechanic, aka my husband who seems to be getting sucked in to more and more of these diy jobs! But after finding it impossible to get off the top shock nut on the DS, I knew I needed help. So the bulk of my duties included getting/refilling cold drinks, retrieving wrenches that were hucked across the garage because of stubborn nuts/bolts, and utilizing my curves/body mass to stand on axels to remove old springs...all of which I found essential to completing this job!
image.jpg

Also had to get new jack stands in the middle of the job. Needed bigger/taller ones in order to drop the rear axel enough to remove old springs. Guess we could have used wood blocks to raise up, but the bigger heavier duty ones just felt more stable and safer.
The finished product~

Here are some not so great before and after shots. Not a huge difference in in lift, but noticeable and no more saggy low riding in the back!

After...

Now I just need some new tires to replace the old Michelin's the PO put on....coming soon hopefully!!

Nice job, the OME (Old Man Emu) stuff is awesome and I think you will like the ride.

Even after all the years and different suspensions I've run I still think that one was the best. Granted I ran the 3" , hands down I think OME got the coils down to a science.

And don't discount how important support staff is on any project or mission ;-)

:) It's a rewarding job.

Decided to test out the new suspension (see previous post) and do some touring around central Oahu and Wahiawa Gardens. The truck drove and felt great with the brand new suspension....doesn't look so bad either!!! Really happy with it.

what I can't get over, is how clean and rust free the underside of your LC is...

You should see mine, everytime I'm down there, it gets flakey.

Did you use anything for castor correction? How's it feel driving it compared to previous?
