Installed my new alternator from Australia. 12V 80 Amp unit for my 12HT. PERFECT bolt in.
I'm happy, half my troubles are now solved.
Transmission is next, damned if I didn't blow out 5th gear in the Yukon. Don't know why.

That much closer to turning the key again. Life got in the way for a bit.

Funny tho after reading thru the desmog PDF this AM I'm realizing that guy @OSS is so right. Forget the air cleaner for now. Start her up, full choke, let her warm up for 15 mins while beginning the hustle to get the first step of retorquing the headbolts accomplished. So fricken much to think about... and here I thought everything prior was daunting!

Installed the machined flywheel and new pilot bearing behind the 3FE in my '86 FJ60 Project vehicle. I've had the flywheel stored for ~15 years waiting (for a long, long time) to get to this point of the build. Here's the flywheel's storage container:

I think the box is very appropriate given the "meatiness" of the flywheel. I'll re-use the box to store the even "meatier" F engine flywheel that'll go between the '76 2F and HJ47 H41 in my '71 FJ40.

Here's the flywheel itself:

And installed:

Last Friday we did an initial fall color recon. Took CR12 north from Cotopaxi over Stoney Face mtn then dropped down to CR2 in the lower end of South Park. The aspens were maybe a week from peak color.

Then went west on CR2/Ute Trail to Salida. Stopped at Classic Cruisers. Said hi to Brandon and Micah. Got a look at the Toyota pickup he has installed a 1.9L VW diesel in. He is working on a kit for this swap. He's getting huge MPGs and it will really scoot.

So this weekend I Installed a sleeping platform and went to a whitewater kayaking festival here in Northern California. I have NEVER slept this comfortably while camping...

*PRO-TIP* Make your bed before you leave town (if you have no rear seat passengers). Saves such a headache and kayaking festivals involve copious evening time drinking....

EDIT: I'm also in the process of looking at fj60/62s here in the western states. I really want to swap my H55 drive/3B power-train into a clean body and spotless frame. Time will tell if this will go. My frame isn't bad, but we don't salt our roads here in Cali.

Big boy erector set! That is awesome Casey.

Yessir, it will be worth the effort for many years. I have to admit, the first time lifting that much weight on a machine you just bolt together is a bit uncomfortable.

Killed some clay birds and enjoyed some beautiful rolling Kentucky hills with some fellow Toyotas!
Proof positive that a 60 is a wise financial choice. Unlike those other guys the 60 owner still has money left over for many many gubs:)

Ongoing repair of a bit of a fire I put out with a beach towel on Capital of Texas Hwy in Austin Texas. I'm suspicious of either a theoretical carbon trail that went down the side of my ignition coil that caused some arcing and my engine hood lining to catch fire or an in-line fuel pump that should of had its own independent fuse.....either way just about have it fixed.

It wants to turn over but I'm pretty sure the ignition module underneath my distributor is fried or broken in some regard. Its been good fun working at night in the rain!

Kind of a no brainer, but for those of you who are tired of getting a bicep workout to roll up your windows. I grabbed a can of PB Blaster dry lube with teflon at Lowes and sprayed down the window tracks in my 60 and my Troopy and it made a huge difference. Windows glide perfectly. Highly recommend

My terrible luck strikes again! What I thought was a 100% original paint truck has had both drivers side doors repainted at some point. How do I know? I burned right through the paint while buffing. And found a not factory color primer. Blaaaahh
