Wow, nailed it with minimalism. I have to concede to new generation Milwaukee 12V 3/8” ratchet.
Belt adjustment bolts, any long thread items are dealt with a bit more economically time wise.
I had to laugh at myself I thought you’d missed vice...
Hey. There’s a thread in 60 series. A friend in Ontario - Cruisin Canuck- is rebuilding his case. Georg got his experience in and made an interesting comment about mixing up gear sets.
I would tear that case all the way down and run it through the wash, and then inspect everything really well. Obviously, a hardened piece of steel got into the bearing to cause that type of damage. You should see distinct, wear marks, or breakage...
So happy they still make these, but fuuck that front end is so mismatched and horrible. Just can't get over that.
Maybe an after market hood without the bulge could fix it....maybe.... And different bumper.
That was interesting, thanks.
I asked him about the flex. Let's see if he answers.
The original setup, with the little pickup truck, is kind of the same thing, and no issues with the flex it seems.
I was amazed at the absolutely horrendous...
Don't do that. The older FJ45 frame flexes a lot. So unless you physically weld the existing box to the cab keep them separate.
Doing that job of attachment is more involved than just extending sides and bolting it on. Enormous stresses in flex...
So, I went through this a while back when building out a sprinter van. I wanted to modularize with steel framing vs standard wood and screw construction, in case I ever need to add, subtract, or repair without having to full demo it.
Steel in...
Here are all your questions answered. Most valuable thread there is for transmissions and transfer cases.

Just ordered the u-bolt flip kit from @lcwizard. Going to try to hammer it out a bit once I get the kit but a good excuse to upgrade.
Thanks all for the help - will keep ya posted!
I have an amazing degreaser I got an local auto parts store. Bare metal is so much nicer to work on.
Spray on, soak for 10 min, rinse. Ubolt flip kit is a convenient work around for sure. Better end result.
I was thinking the BFH might sort it out too. Pissed I didn't notice it when the axle was out.
When the axle was out I hit it with a commercial hot pressure washer...it was much grimier. I debated painting it but decided against it. If I was...
Cut those center pipe posts in that lifted rear shackle, that's hard on springs and destroys flexibility.
Conferr started selling those way back when. I just zip disked mine but It's a personal opinion based on
my experience and observation...
That is easily repairable if you just want to get it running. Got find a piece of steel, reshape and weld.
The welding alone will harden it up well enough.
As above, just be nice to the U bolts. They really aren't going anywhere once bolted on...
To tag on I installed the Australian Door Cards in Masonite. Same company that does the ABS. Very solid and $150 delivered from AU to United State of Texas. Do NOT build up any extra material on backside. Interior shop got it wrong even when I...
I had the pleasure of seeing and driving this truck yesterday. (Good to visit Jon, thanks for dropping by.)
Very cool truck, and I second Jon's thoughts on it.
Now I want one even more!
So everyone told me about the power of the 5.7 but to be honest I thought, Meh?!
I was so f'n wrong!! Screw zero to 60 times, try zero to 90! I actually saw my buddies head flip back when he didn't expect
me to hammer it pulling onto the...
