Thanks, yea I am excited, I deffinitely love that it has the H55F and twin stick kit. Other than all of the ARB bolt-ons(bumper, roof rack, OME lift), the H55 was the big reason I bought it! I have the NV4500 in my FJ40 and do like that it has a bigger overdrive, but now that I have gotten used to driving behind the H55 I really like it. Now to just give it a little more power!Hell yeah man, you're going to love it with the H55F when you're done!
Feels great to get all that wiring out. When I did my swap I ended up pulling my dash to get it all out without cutting. Definitely added a lot of time, but I’m glad I did it.So I’ve been combing over the forums since the fall to gather info. I’m seeing plenty of good swap suggestions and info.
This thread is particularly helpful:
how-to-ls-swap-a-fj60-or-fj62-quick-and-dirty-guide-for-regular-folks-wanting-to-do-an-engine-swap-in-their-driveway
But I haven’t really found a good description of how much wiring I can remove. I’m trying to save everything and not cut anything. I have the FSM so I’ll dive in tonight, but so far on the main engine harness, the only thing I can see that I need to save is the Temp sender wire for the cluster, so I removed it in one piece by disconnecting everything. Hoping to help out another Mud member in need of parts as u go…

Plenty more to clean up and figure out, going to look at the FSM diagrams for what’s left & what I need to merge with the LS harness. More to come
Nice, that sounds a lot better than trying to cut into everything and merge the two.... Thanks for all the info, I will definitely be calling and placing an order! As you saw you don't need anything from the 3FE engine harness besides the cluster wire which runs through the ECM. I like to De-pin that wire right from the plug on the cluster and leave the engine harness intact. Especielly since you need to run tach, CEL and DBW wires up to that area though the driver's side firewall anyways.
Here to help with all the parts you'll need for the swap![]()

Agreed, I also pulled the dash. Much cleaner that way.
What harness are you going with? Thanks! Sounds like the way to go! Mine is cracked and I saw a decent used one, maybe I should see if it’s still available. Yea, I’m hoping to just disconnect and remove wiring, I want everything to look clean & not be a rats nest, I hate hacked off wires going to nowhere….
I’ve got a factory harness & ECM that came with the motor, it’s clean and in good condition. Going to go through it on the workbench and remove all the 4L60 part of the harness and clean it up to get it ready for install. I bought a PSI ECM for another project years ago, I have considered buying a harness if I get lazy or sending it out to one of the other vendors, but we’ll see. What harness are you going with?
Nice. Solid plan. And the bonus is that you'll talk yourself into redoing all the foam on your HVAC since that'll be 90% out as well at that point. Thanks! Sounds like the way to go! That makes a lot of sense, that way it’s not a guessing game later.we don't do that on our swaps we do here, I don't see a reason to personally. I like the stock schematic to still be relevant
Now repairing hacks and damage back to stock is another story.
Yea that makes sense & just gotta grab the manual & multi meter & filter through what has been modded from the PO.I pulled every engine wire that went to the old ECU that wasn’t reused, but left everything else
