The amount of heat that builds up under my floor boards and on my firewall is unbelieveable. Drove up to Lake Norman this weekend which is about 45 mins of Highway driving and even with the top off i was hot as Hell in the cab still. I looked all the heat shields are there.
Is this normal? or how have you guys combated it?

Truck is running normal temp.

yes you are riding in a tin box that acts as a microwave oven. normal

go topless if you are
heat wrap exhaust, check timing etc,

live with it. not much else but to add ac

I live in the middle of the desert where its usally around 104 so i dont know whether i have the same problem, but switching to upholsterd seats or geting covers can help alot. other than that theres probably not to much you can do.

Yes there is...

Clean floorboards, crack egg, wait 3 minutes, remove egg... eat.

yep thats what I figured. I thought i might ask just to make sure...

Its something I can def live with. I love my 40, especially this time of the year.

I put down some foil bubble wrap (reflectixs or somethin like that) as is reflects heat and covered with some carpet. Worked pretty well on the floorboard, but I need to figure out a way to cover the trany hump as well. You can get the reflectixs at OSH or HD.

It is a more permanent solution. Have to be wary of corrosion starting in the layers though.

Currently running bare painted floor boards, v8, between the frame headers and a single 3" pipe directly below the driver's seat. Haven't melted my flip flops/slippa's yet! It is a tad warm on the bare tootsies though!lol

you could try the CCOT Aussie mat and there foil backed insulation. thats what i did to beat the heat in the cab. works very good but its not that cheap. but when i bought them they were around $200.00 not the $471.00 they are now.

I covered everything with the heat-reflective liner from Summit, and then cheap plastic mats from the hardware store (like $5 for 4x6 feet) and SOR carpets on top

the truck being in the desert, I do not expect much humidity to build up - the entire inside is covered with rust bullet anyway :meh:

yeah, I like the doors off, too :D

Sorry to bring a dead thread back but I am having issues with my roof so I need to leav it on. I need to keep my cab from getting hot. I plan to wrap my exhaust but does anyone know any other ways to reduce the extra heat in the cab?

I literally double heat wrapped my exhaust for everything that is inside the frame including the muffler. After a lot of research I figured what the heck, used some heat wrap from Summit, and then painted it with exhaust paint. Have not got it on the road yet, looking for both heat reduction as well as noise reduction. I found lot of people who said it will not cause any corrosion problems. If you are driving it the exhaust will be so hot that it will 100% dry out when you park it, and it if it parked and raining it will not get wet under the vhicle. Made sense to me.

I used sound dampener, 2 layers of thermal insulation, carpeting with jute backing and AC. Works well for the Georgia heat.

Mascoat Lizard Skin , I use it on rally and track cars works very well!
