Hey i have a fj40 with 10" wide rims running 33x12.50 15" the tie rod ends are rubbing on the inside of the rims does anyone know what can be done other than putting spacers on it Thanks.

Unsrew the steering stop
Will not help this problem at all.

Only solution is spacers or different rims.

If I'm reading it correctly, this is what he is running into..

8” wide rims. Different backspacing. 1/4” spacers.

Stick on balancing weights can be used to help clearance, but only if the rim clears.

I’ve been running 1/4” spacers for 27 years and 100k miles without any problems... I’d go that route.

Luke who makes custom steering arms for some of the spring over setups could likely make arms... but a new set of rims would likely be cheaper. I can’t remember what company / username

As for balancing you could use balance bags, available at NAPA and other places. No weights on the outside of the wheel and no clearance issues for wheels with tight clearances to the TRE's.

How bad is the rub ? Mine used to just barely rub the boot and after awhile it would wear a cut in the boot. I ran it like that and liked it cause if the steering arms get loose you can hear and feel the tie rod end dragging on the rim. New boots every once in awhile does not hurt anyway. I eventually put 1/4 inch spacers on. FWIW the 1/4 spacers reduce the amount of thread engagement on the lug studs so if you have anything besides a steel wheel it may reguire longer wheel studs pressed into hub to run an aluminum wheel.

Nice mine rubbed through the rubber boot also. Lol
never bothered me either.
