You're dampener is aftermarket. A stk dampener uses the hole in the center arm and attaches to the frames crossmember. You can see it in @lowenbrau 's post #7.

I'd suggest getting the right steering damper for your vehicle. This one worked great for me and is a complete kit from @cruiseroutfit

There are others from other vendors available. I did not see what year your chassis was.
The dampener you bought will work. You just need to mount the end that attaches to the tie rod so it doesn't interfere with the tie rods travel. Make sure the U bolts are tight so they don't slip.
