Today;
Cleaned and lubed the door latches and locks on 4 doors including install of the new latch button bumpers supplied by one of the knights. Memory not so good any more as to who (Pablo ???)

got the two new front door cards installed and the two rear doors cards prepped ready for install tomorrow

Hope they fit well and allow for smooth operation and keep dirt/dust out!

yes they installed and fit perfect. With those and a bit of lube at all the swivel points the latches and locks work quietly and smoothly

After scrubbing loose the dirt and dust on the interior of the doors I sprayed some ospho then a coat of ivory color paint that matches the original interior perfectly. Now the interior of the doors are preserved and the four door panels installed. Will attack the B pillars next week and leave the rest for another time. These door panels added another level of sound deadening also. This is the quietest this mistress has ever been and for under $5,000.

I’m feelin like I might want to get a gold front tooth next.

I went with the polished aluminum door release cups instead of the original black plastic ones in memory of my 72 pig I had in the 70’s and the dark grey panels to go with the bronze exterior. Had an all black interior once and it was to much black. (If thats possible)!
 
Thanks for asking. The next 3 week ends will be finishing new fencing on the street front. Then I can play pig care giver.

Next task on the 77 is to strip the poorly applied tuff liner or alligator skin off the cab floor boards and replace it with a 2 part epoxy color match. I already stripped it the cargo bay because it was like kneeling on 24 grit floor sanding discs.

Next on the 70 is to drop the fuel tank and get a leak repair. Strange place, on the top of the tank there's a small dent that caused a puncture???

'70 is the red one, eh?
And this one is a '77?

The original tank my Pig came with got a tear/crack on the top. I was wondering if it was caused by torsional stress - being attached to the body.
I think the '70 tanks are different than '74 tanks. All 4 of my vent lines come out the driver side by the fill inlet. I think '70 vent lines come out each corner?

Now that I think about it, I don't think I post pics of the repair to my original tank...
 
I hope to put some time into the red devil after pig party. She was produced in 70 but registered as a 71. I’ve never had to drop a fuel tank so I don’t no what hoses to expect.

I had a local mechanic repair it but he used something that looked like JB weld. He showed me a photo and it looked like a dent that pushed in so far it cracked? The young age of the mechanic had me a bit

and how it got a dent on top baffles me

Week 9 has been amazing. Walking like there never was a problem. Still a stiff feeling when sitting and getting in and out of cars. Going up stairs is no big deal going down can feel a bit stiff at times. In general Dr and therapist commented that my progress was exceptional.

They probably say that to the 89 year olds too.

bottom line, thrilled, especially how fast the recovery has been for me.
 
When I was getting ready to have mine done last year, the most common remark from those who had replacements previously was “you’ll wish you’d done it ten years ago.” Absolutely true. Glad you’re recovering well.
 
So the lithium battery experiment has begun. Although I mentioned this in the PP thread, I figured I should but it in the build thread. Contrary to my statement earlier about not attempting this for the long PP drive I may give it a try. Caveat is that the dc to dc charger needed hasn’t arrived. Hoping for tomorrow so the I can test the system for at least 3 days.

pics are of dry fitting battery in box, snug fit. Then created extended battery posts to accommodate existing wiring so modification of wiring at the battery location is not necessary at this time.

Nice, I'm waiting to see the charger, don't have my brain wrapped around that yet. Are you planning to go with solar charging down the road?

I tooled up with solar about 3 or 4 years ago. I have currently use 2 panels by P3 Solar. 2 folding panels are 13”x13”x4” folded Weighs about 8 lbs. Each panel opens to 3’x5’. 250 watts total. 30’ cord so I can park in the shade and put the panels in the sun. Saved me when my alternator failed on e time.

as I mentioned in the PP thread, the starter battery keeps the house battery charged when the engine is running. They don’t speak the same language so the charger keeps them separated. No more using in parallel. In an emergency you could use jumpers to start the pig but lithium batteries aren’t geared for that or operating heavy loads like a winch.

Your battery is more forgiving and robust than you are giving it credit for..

As long as you are getting 13.3 volts minimum back to that Lipo battery you’ll get nearly all the benefit of switching from the lead acid.
