  • Take a spare air filter or a way to clean your air filter with you if you're running in a group. The moon dust is heavy on several sections and if you're not the lead vehicle your air cleaner will end up plugged fairly quickly.
Yeah, I should have brought the one I had. Ended up pulling about 2 pounds of dust out of the little catch can on the bottom of the air cleaner when I swapped it out after the trip. I didn't bother to clean the filter again, but it made a big cloud of dust when it dropped into the trash can.

Great trip though. Really enjoyed the company!

Funny I was just watching this a few days ago and thinking about the trip Steve was telling me about.

I think them boys cleared the trail for Ya all :p

Hey, we moved 1 tree.

There had been some really serious clearing at the top of Bethel Ridge on section 2. Looks like that took days for a big crew.

Ordered up some Timbren rear bump stops. Turns out completely ignoring up travel and letting the tire hit the Delta rear bumper was a little hard on the powder coat.

That'll buff out 😬

I've found VHT Roll Bar and Chassis Paint is a very good match for satin black powder coat.

Or I could just keep driving like an a-hole and letting the tires keep the bumper corner nice and shiny. 🤩

And the fender flare

@baldilocks had given me a tentative invite as well. I never followed up as I was only a maybe for 1or 2 sections. My schedule has been garbage, and I just had a family vacation in late July. It's definitely a run I would like to do. What do you guys think the overall trail conditions would be like once things get wet but before snow stays put?

Probably not too bad. You'll probably hit some wet early season snow at the top of the mountains, but the ground shouldn't be saturated like it is in the spring. The bigger thing to worry about is treefall - If we've had a decent wind storm go through I'd skip it until next year since you can literally have hundreds of trees come down on the length of the trail.

New Icon 4-6" lift shocks arrived - Fronts are on, rears look like they need to go back to Icon with the hose assemblies installed on the shock bodies upside down.

Fronts installed

Rears will have to wait - hose unions look like they're assembled upside down on the shock bodies.

For anyone interested. Here are the differences between the Icon 0-3" shocks and 4-6" shocks:

Fronts are about 1 3/8" longer. A little less than an inch difference in the bodies.

Rears are a bogger difference - about 4" longer overall. aAcouple of inches longer at the body.

What's the overall travel on the front shocks ?

What the overall travel on the front shocks ?
I didn't measure before I installed and realized that would have been a good number to have. I'll measure when I tear the front end down in a few weeks and put new radius arms in and spacers for the air bumps.

Icon 4-6" rears have 11 1/4" of travel.

NICE Addition, you will enjoy more drop now.
Watch out for overrunning the air bumps. I constantly bottomed mine out with the standared preasure in them. I eventually took them out after denting the driver axle pad. I'm back to forgiving rubber bumps up front. OE rear coil cones on inside front & Timbrens on the frnt frame mounts.

My air bumps have been pretty good so far. Taken some fairly static 5' drops and a high speed hit on a 2' obstacle I didn't see and I've never compressed fully - telltales show I've only managed to get them to within an inch of full compression (haven't adjusted pressure). I have Timbrens on the way for the rear. I've had all kinds of body contact back there.

I also grabbed some longer brake lines from Slee. With the extra droop I don't want to tear out the original extended lines that came with the Icon lift which was only made for a 3" lift. Might have to drop the parking brake cable a little more too, unless @synapse 's kit becomes available some time soon.

What are your plans for the old shocks? I have this "friend" who has an 80 series and he's been sort of looking at shocks.
