haha you have a point. Also I do love being a tourist so I am a slight hypocrite .
100% aggree, and with everything @RevISK said. Mostly, the tourist that have been coming here for years, even generations are the best. It's a lot of the new, non-residents property owners that seem to be the problem. Heck, I think a lot of the new property owners are not even people, they are investment funds, or groups of investors that own the properties.

Too bad we can't all just follow the 3 simple rules of the Willie Nelson household:
1. Don't be an a**hole
2. Don't be an a**hole
3. Don't be an a**hole

So, not to completely hijack your thread with non-cruiser junk. When is the first Salt Wagon Surf Festival?

I really is a lot of people looking for some sort of flipper house. Luckly down here there is not as much of that but I have seen some. but for real don't act like an a hole and all will be fine. Its literally Kindness Month here at the school I work at. The slogan of the month is Just be kind. some of these adults need to hear this.

anyways we should make a salt wagon surf rally happen. a good weekend in Late may or June would be perfect! One of my Goals is to drive the salt wagon up to Avon with the top off once I finish my engine swap stuff.

This came in from @cruiseroutfit I love the thank you for choosing cruiserteq letter Cruiserteq adds. its a nice touch. Glad to have the rebuild kit. Also waiting on the carb still though. should be here Monday. Excited to tear into it. Crossing my fingers it comes apart easy.

I put in the classifieds I am looking for a header or exhaust manifold with down pipe used. Just wanted to see if anybody had anything before I buy a header from eBay or somewhere else.

I might throw the fly wheel and bellhousing on this weekend but also I might wait till next weekend. Kinda at a stand still waiting on a few things.

Don't know if you know - there is a thread about headers. They got the rights to the specs from the original Downey headers and are taking pre-orders - they are also going to sell a complete exhaust kit too. It has been installed and a few 40's to test and I think one Pig. Anyway - full production not too far off. They are putting in a O2 bung so it would make the sniper conversion even easier if one chooses to go that route in the future.

color me interested...

It's beginning to dawn on me that this site isn't about LandCruisers at all, it's about how hard we can spend each others money.

I have seen that thread. I think it might be a little more money than I can spend on it right now. It looks amazing though. I did just buy a used header that I am going to clean up and paint with some header paint. Its awesome he is making the exhaust kit though. we need a kit option for that. right now I am probably going to have to weld up something myself or trailer it off the island to a muffler shop or somthing. witch will not be fun. The only down side to the header I think is that you cannot run a PTO winch because of clearance issues.

I bought a used header from @Lifelong40Fan that I am going to clean up. it should work fine. some wire wheeling, rust conversion and then header paint it should be good to go!

You have achieved third level Yotaverse consciousness. That’s big medicine.

H42 Transmission, Tcase, eBrake Rebuild in a '76 FJ40` - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/h42-transmission-tcase-ebrake-rebuild-in-a-76-fj40.758634/page-2 Putting this thread here so I can remember it. I also told @red66toy I will be asking him questions here soon haha. I Got the transferase off the transmission today witch made me able to lift the trans on the work bench. It was not as bad as I thought that would go. I am just now getting to the transmission since I have been focusing on the engine. The bearing closest to the clutch on the top seems to have play. I am unsure if thats normal but I will be inspecting the fsm in the morning for that info! Also don't judge me for using my torque wrench I could not find my regular 1/2 ratchet. I sat it down somewhere in the garage I am working in and could not find it. Of course I found it on top of the golf cart thats parked in here later.

I am unsure to how I am going to plan out everything at this point with my transmissions. I need to have my engine out of the garage by early March. Its my parents garage and he needs it for some cabinetry stuff. I may drop the engine in and use the 3speed transmission while I work on the 4speed. (not sure yet). I know I will move the engine to my yard and place on the engine stand till I am ready to install it. witch won't be too long and don't worry it will be covered from the elements. if you have read this far I apologize for my brains rambling.

Can somebody also point me in the direction of the correct bearing puller I can use to pull the transmission bearings? I know @red66toy used and modified this puller for the bottom bearing Puller what puller do you use for the other bearings? Is there a puller that I can borrow from somebody or rent from somebody on MUD? I am too far from a car parts place to rent one before somebody says that. @red66toy I think you said you borrowed one from somebody. Did you use that one? I could also buy one but I don't want to spend big money on it.

Happy news my carb should be here today and my header gets here tomorrow.

here is the big puller I borrowed from a local:

It was a beast and made easy work of the big bearings. It gripped the small groove for the lock ring.

Non transmission related. and its fantastic news! my carburetor I purchased for cheep showed up yesterday. genuine oem carb! The only thing wrong was the choke butterfly plate was missing. I pulled it apart because I wanted to replace the air horn with the one from the old carb I had because it was all good and had the choke. Long story short I pulled this carb apart and it seemed immaculate on the inside. It for certain had been rebuilt, thoroughly cleaned, or never used. I honestly just replaced the big parts from the kit and got it put back together. we will see if it works! I still need to replace the sight window screw and I have not attached all the linkage back yet. but it went back together nicely. The diaphragm I think is bad (only bad news) but the one from the old carb is still good so I will use that and order a replacement. I also inspected and cleaned the jets. Not pictured. and the little ball bearings are back in.

I just read through this whole thread, what an epic build! The photography and surf stuff are awesome too. My brothers and I try to get up to the Avon/Buxton/Hatteras area whenever there's a decent swell window to surf. That whole area is a special place. I'll have to check out Ocracoke next time. Keep it up with the drivetrain rebuild!

You're moving fast and I'm having trouble keeping up! I'm about to order a rebuild kit myself for when I'm done with my rear main seal and clutch. I'm also needing to rebuild my rear diff.

I go it spurts of productiveness. I have a hard time stopping somthing once I have gotten into it. haha. The keyster kit seemed to be of good quality. I wish I had gotten a kit with the diaphram though. I did swap the one from the old carb and it seems to work well.

Thanks! there is always somthing to fix and its part of the fun. My buddy makes surfboards up in Avon. I try to get up there every so often. Surf seems to be more consistent up there. One of my small goals is to drive the fj40 up to Avon once I have the engine swap done!

If you ever down my way let me know!
