Thats really not a bad idea. I might do that. I will say I broke the heads off the bolts on the thermostat housing the engine came with and it still didn't come apart. ended up giving up and just getting the new thermostat housing.
 
I am thinking ahead again but with the carburetor I have, witch is the 2f carb I guess from 1976 - is it required to have a fuel return line? My fj40 does not have one now. Is it wise to plug the return port or is it better to add the return line? if so do you plum the line to the tank?
 
I used the City Racer carb that did not have the return line on my 60 series. Smarter people will chime in.

hum Does the city racer carb have a plug for the return line ? I don't think I have the plug for the carb. I thought about getting the city racer carb. Might still do it but want to try and rebuild one first.
 
City racer is one fuel supply line with no return. I plugged the return line from the engine bay if I recall correctly.

Don’t forget, I have other carbs from the 2f generation. My F carb has been soaking in kerosene/ATF for 14 months now. Hoping for a clean release and rebuild on that one…sometime in 2034.

I don't think I have a return line port on the fuel tank as its an early fj40. witch is really why I don't want to add one haha. I thought about doing the sniper conversion but thats down the road. I think I would have to drill into the tank to add one.

Do you have the air filter housing still? I might need some 2f carb parts. I won't know until I get the one for rebuild in.
 
A photography buddy of mine came through this past summer and got some epic shots of me and the fj40. Jimmy Mac his instagram handle is jay__mac anyways his stuff is fantastic and you should check his stuff out. I have done a lot more since these photos. biggest noticeable thing is the headliner.

This shirt has a whole story behind it. @svsisu might know some about it too. was kinda a story on the obx. So all of south nags head NC got in an uproar about a pizza placed that opened in an area designated for businesses because the NON RESIDENT PROPERTY OWNERS bunch of rich a holes "didn't want to see people eat pizza from their porches and thought it was offensive." I mean come on man its some tasty pizza that is in walking distance from your vacation home on the beach. That sounds like good news to me. They made these shirts after they were told they can stay selling pizzas by the city of nags head. My friend who works at the pizza place sent me the shirt.

I think there is probably a little more to the story I do remember a senator or somthing owned one of the houses complaining to the town.

That's awesome! I knew some of the story, but hadn't seen the shirts, I need one bad. But I'd say the tee aptly applies to Salt Wagon too. Great photo(s)!

So many of these non-resident property owners are offensive, and are quickly changing what this place is all about.

I think they still sell them. You should drive up there and get yourself one.

The entitlement is outrageous. Its happening everywhere that is a tourist destination I think. When I was out in Red River New Mexico on my honey mood I talked to a guy who had an fj40 out front of his rental shop. He was saying the same things we are down here. Too many people buying up the older places that seasonal/local workers would rent and fixing them up for weekly tourist rentals. So its becoming harder to employ people because they can't afford to rent a place. the market for buying homes was going through the roof at the same time.

It makes it really hard on the working class that does things like TEACH (me), servers, store employees, etc because they have nowhere they can afford to live. Here on Ocracoke many people are living in campers. The great irony is the people buying up the place are the ones causing the issues. And here these NON RESIDENT property owners are complaining about a family run pizza joint trying to make a living. Shame on them.

We have property not far from RR outside of Angel Fire. There are almost zero places for people to live, it's almost all rentals.
As for people moving to tourist places and ruining them, all the jackasses who've moved to the Live Music Capital of the World have complained about the noise levels of the live music so all the little districts are now just shopping with hardly any live music anymore.

This world would be so much better without people... they ruin everything

haha you have a point. Also I do love being a tourist so I am a slight hypocrite .
