I think they still sell them. You should drive up there and get yourself one.
The entitlement is outrageous. Its happening everywhere that is a tourist destination I think. When I was out in Red River New Mexico on my honey mood I talked to a guy who had an fj40 out front of his rental shop. He was saying the same things we are down here. Too many people buying up the older places that seasonal/local workers would rent and fixing them up for weekly tourist rentals. So its becoming harder to employ people because they can't afford to rent a place. the market for buying homes was going through the roof at the same time.
It makes it really hard on the working class that does things like TEACH (me), servers, store employees, etc because they have nowhere they can afford to live. Here on Ocracoke many people are living in campers. The great irony is the people buying up the place are the ones causing the issues. And here these NON RESIDENT property owners are complaining about a family run pizza joint trying to make a living. Shame on them.
