Rear bumper design/build

Something else - I know its not as big a deal for you since you're running 40" tires. What is the impact on departure angle compared to the stock bumper? Better, worse, same?

You could also incorporate a rear skid (maybe optional) that could be used to mount a winch, air tank, water tank, etc. Like UJOINTs on ExPo.

EDIT: Heres's a link:

I'll get some departure pics with it all mounted up. This bumper protrudes out about 1/2" past the rear crossmember. Allows for more swing-arm clearance, and doesn't require removing your rear crossmember.

As for the rear skid, that may be an option. The version of this bumper that I am building for my personal rig will incorporate a rear winch.

Also in the works is an auxilliary fuel tank that will work with this bumper. It will be made from stainless, with it's own skid plate.

Too bad you didn't do this a year earlier :(

Forgot to add that all designs going forward will incorporate air quick-couplers to tie into the vehicle's onboard air system.

You willing to part with the CAD files for a reasonable price? I can have everything cut and rolled locally.

Sorry, not interested in selling prints. Feel free to PM if you're interested in purchasing a bumper, but this thread is really just to show the design/fab process for building one of these bumpers.

When/if it comes time to sell a few, I'll be starting a thread in the Marketplace forum on here.

Thanks

Shipping for me would almost double cost. Thanks though.
Awesome design!

Thanks! I happen to work (day job) in the logistics industry, so you might be surprised by my shipping rates... ;)

Have you completed your OBA install?

Not 100% yet.

Here is the bumper that's being cut/formed tomorrow:

Changed spindle location slightly to give more room around the air coupler, and changed the overall width a bit.

I'll update again tomorrow.

:cheers:Great looking bumper Beautiful welds also. I like the extra lights - will those replace or work with lights on the truck ? Personally I enjoy having the lit up at night - easy to see me. Do keep the pics coming & the hardwork looks like it has payed off already.

Looks great!

For the flareless, do the sides go all the way forward to the wheel well or stop short where the flare should be?

What are the little rectangular holes around the lights and near the corners for?

If you start prices, I'd be interested in a bare shell with no spindles/arms and the little hoops tipped out a few degrees.

That is one sick looking bumper! I don't know many people in logistics who can weld like that!

2nd bumper down...

Few teaser pics below.
