I'm new here but I guess I'll throw my hat in the lot

Dusty66 and Fireflyr, Your trucks make me wish I had painted mine dune beige! Great look with the Paki tops!
Here's a couple pics of mine from a couple weeks ago.

Funny, I was down to Nebula Green or Dune Beige. That, my friend, is an outstanding truck. And just think, you have disc brakes AND a 4 speed tranny.

my unclean 69

1F engine, SOA, pickup housings, Longfield axles, spool, 435 tranny, Woods shafts, crawler gears, full cage, 38's. all kinds of other goodies It goes straight down the road or straight up a tree....what ever and where ever you would like to go. Someday I'll do another FJ resto but for now this one is too much fun. I commute in this thing and would drive it anywhere...and do!

Current engine bay. Building a 1987 FJ60 2F for as I type this. It will replace the only item (the motor) I didn't rebuild or replace during the resto.

The man cave where they rest and I play. My 25 X 50 shop at my house. The wife has the attached garage for her toys and this is mine.

No, the one side is actually a large bolt with a knurled head. I got the carrier from a local club member - I think it was made by a Jeep place somewhere down south. I would replace it with another in a heartbeat!

is the knurled head like a super wing nut type thing?? is that what locks it into place?? or is that the pivot point?
i started a front and rear bumper build this time last year but got caught up with school then jetted off to NM to work for the summer and i have yet to pick the project back up (im doint 100k other things right now and nothing is getting the attention it deserves) but im looking for a second hand swing arm (or just spindle and lock) if you wana part w/what you got let me know

btw what camera did you use to take that first picture i commented on?

Just now becoming my daily driver. Also takin' it on a Turkey hunt tomorrow. Pretty fun to see all these rigs, from A to Z!

good luck on the Turkey Hunt,,,,,,,,,,,,,there are still gobbling here in Ga.

This is the best picture that I have of the nut that holds the carrier. It has a conical seat that it fits into - it actually holds pretty well. The only real complaints that I have are the mounts that hold the carrier to the frame - not beefy enough for a 35 - could also be that I still have not made new diagonal frame pieces to replace the original rusted ones - but the crossmember doesn't ever look like it is moving when I wiggle the tire.

That picture was taken with a Canon 30D.
