I would like to start a reference thread documenting the stock layout of 40 series dashboards. I think it would be useful to show a picture of the entire dash, side-to-side... or maybe 2 slightly overlapping pictures to increase our ability to see what is there. Along with this we can add descriptive info identifying unlabeled indicator lights and such.

If you have a stock dash and can upload good quality pictures where we can read the knob labels etc. please do so. And include the model and build month/year. And identify anything that might not be obvious...

    Thanks!

    Mark

    side window vent tubes
    under dash parking brake
    100mph speedo
"Brake/Fasten Belts" light to the right of the cluster
"Unleaded Fuel Only" sticker to the left of the cluster
    note style of heater
    note style of horn button
do not know if radio is stock

and my Feb. 1980 40 series with factory A/C. ashtray is missing with a PO installed equalizer, and an extra hole that was for an extra gas tank toggle switch next to the headlight switch.

    Great idea for a thread!

For those of us who rescued our cruisers from booger eaters with such innovative technology as drilling a bunch of 1/16 holes in a 1/2 inch circle instead of getting the right sized drill bit, pictures of the "empty" dash - showing correct holes without lights and knobs - would also be very helpful.

    Here's a boogered '76:

The switch under the seatbelt light is non-stock right?

8/71 if you ignore the improvised dash pad cover and the temp gauge below the drivers left pad it should be close to stock. The empty hole next to the hazard light pull is the lighter socket. That knob is in the glove box.

There are two blanks. One between the choke and the hazard that was the hand throttle? And one on the far right past the glove box that was the soft top light?

    Woytovich -

Correct, it appears to be a fog lamp switch the PO had put in.

I thought the sticker didn't show up until '79 with the cats. Kinda looks like a "foremost' restoration pic.

good addition in the third pic here is the Warn locking hub sticker on the passenger end of the dash... have seen this on several trucks - I assume the dealer installed these when they installed the lockouts as a dealer option?

This dash is for an April/72 40, no idea if it's stock correct...

    Top...from left to right

    Choke (wrong/non-working knob) - blank - hazards - lighter

    Bottom...left to right

white knob (no idea what it does) - wipers - rear heater - front heater - fresh/recirc air vent - interior light

the cowl vent is down by the heater
