Yea Cool car! From the"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"movie!! Very nice work on your 40.Great idea on saving the old harness, any idea on price and turn around time?or should I just contact Coolerman and look into it more.I would like to do that with my harness it's a mess. How hard is it to take off the harness? Or just take your time and be careful disconnecting everything. Will you need a new fuse box or can the old one be cleaned up and reused as well? I guess it just depends on the condition of it,looks pretty good in the pic.My dash always leaked a little and dripped right onto the fuse box area, not good! I have a little rust in that area, but not too bad.

Contact Coolerman for the above, he is quite busy so it would take him sometime (because he has to finish mine first haha), I have a spare good condition fuse box with cover I can let go. Its in good shape. PM me and we can work it out.

Does anyone know where to buy ties for the heater hoses? Ties and or snaps that look like OEM or better and last and don't rust? (I know eventually everything rusts, just kidding).

Thanks.

I have never been so jealous of a vehicle in my life! Awesome build!

Those knobs from Tollhole and Ameur are sweet.

You know come to think of it all of these persons have helped out in this restoration:

Mark from Mark's Off Road: Reading through his website made me appreciate many things about having my as stock as possible.

Folks at Cool Cruisers of Texas, I know your opinions are mixed, but they did a hell of a job with those metal panels I bought from them.

Folks at Cruiser Corps, a lot of personal service and very friendly. I should have sent my car to them for the whole job.

SOR. Yes even if I get mad at Paul for sending my items through a UPS where they "missed" my address in Dallas for two straight weeks. But they rule, they have everything really and they are awesome.

Cruiserparts, the online FJ40 boneyard, :) they have nice hard to find stuff.

CD Dan, well, who doesn't love him here.

Toyotapartzone.com

AATLAS - Shane bunch of stickers and safety strap bars. Tons of advice too.

Coolerman - harness

Trollhole - new carb, renewed knobs and switches.

Landcruiserparts on eBay (Vic great guy).

Bunch of folks selling stuff on eBay and Craigslist.

Amaurer or Knoobs.

Dallas Engine Rebuilders

Edmundo and Hector from DPB

Custom Powder Coating in Dallas

of course Woody from IH8MUD

Destin for setting a great standard on a nice rebuild, either you do something right or you don't attitude :)

My parents for putting through law school so I could have a nice career and afford all of this to begin with.

For sure I'm missing someone important, I'll edit later and add.

Thanks everyone here lending a hand... gees reads like I won an Oscar or something....

Those are sweet.. How exactly do they install?
I have a 1971 rig.

Are those the SOR replica tail lights? and next to it is the small circle reflector right? (some of your pics, the reflector "lights" up.. so just checking)

AWESOME WORK!!!

Thanks!

I bought these mudflap brackets and cut them to fit:

Amazon.com: Trailflap TF00 Removable Trailflap Mud Flap Brackets WITHOUT Flaps For Most 4x4 Trucks And Jeeps: Automotive

The tail lights and the reflectors are not replicas, not bought at SOR either, bought OEM (new old stock) from Landcruiserparts in eBay. :) It takes time, patience and money, but you can still find some unobtanium out there.

Oops.. sorry. They looked just like the SOR pics. Did they come with the sheet metal holding bracket? I think it bolts to the rear crossmember? Or did you have to buy those separate?

Can I still sport these Toyota mudflaps.. even if my '71 rig has a Chevy 350 engine?!

Your build thread is my new photo reference! I'm also looking to buy and install a spare tire carrier, and haven't found many pics of the carrier mounted without a tire blocking!

Thanks for taking the time to share all these awesome cruiser porn pics!!

Thanks for the eBay and Amazon leads.

$160 in classy mudflaps alone! No details or expense spared.. this is one high-end vehicle!!
