The rear jumpseats and OEM roll bar are from a 1983 model. I want it stock as much as possible, just mixing year models on some items. I want to be able to remove the top with a roll bar or not worry much when I have the canvas top on.

I also added the SOR oem like fog lights.

I really like how the headlamp housings look when powder coated :)

Here's a firewall shot for a name my firewall opening thread if any one wants to do it. By the way, I'm waiting for a new clutch cylinder.

This is how the "middle" seatbelt is attached to the floor. These are from Beam's. Note the angle so that the passenger seat can fold without getting entangled.

Regarding the front seats - just bookmarked cruiser corps for seat covers. Who did you use for the foam inserts? Thanks, and please keep it coming as mine is almost exactly like your before photos.

I bought the foam inserts from SOR. I thought of having someone make some, but to my surprise SOR's are made with a certain pattern that seems that won't break into the springs. I reused the "horsehair" weave thing, its supposed to add this type of support and they were in good shape. Also, you don't see any of that these days so I thought it was cool.

Here's the chromed button trims, the CB radio (I don't know where to put it yet), and the 8 Track era correct New Old Stock FM radio (goes in the glove box). I bought the SOR speaker covers for under the vents, and I'll post where tweetes and speakers are going. I hope you like my set up when its done.

I'm trying to figure out if I should restore my old harness and add circuits, or install my new painless. I'm a little against the cost though. Someone quoted me about $2,600 for a full painless install, I'm not sure that can be right.

Heck no thats not right. I had my old harness restored and installed in my 40 for $800 including parts. AND I had the gentleman do a bunch of other stuff. Go to a Toyota dealership and talk to one of the certified master techs and see if he'll do it on the side. Probably can get it all done for under a grand. Heck you could probably pay retail shop rates at a Toyota dealership and get it all done for under a grand.

Sounds like a very good idea. Thanks!

Hey no worries. I'm enjoying reading your build up. I'm sure a master tech would jump all over your rig. I'm a service and parts trainer for a software company and we work out of a Toyota dealership and I have my 40 in the shop and the guys are going crazy over it. They think its the neatest thing since sliced bread. You will have no problems finding a Toyota master tech who can say he's worked on a vintage cruiser. Keep us in the loop!!! n 's
