Played around with stripper today.. got the yellow off but the primer is still over the red but white pretty much came off. Will most likely paint it all🤟 Pics of the experiment.. and looked at my toyopet rear handle under the chrome cover.
I've always been taught to hone the cyldr during a rebuild. It helps the seals seat to the cyldr and trues the cyldrs walls. When you start honing you will see low spots and imperfections in the cyldr. The low spots are where fluid can get...
It's only normal, I do the same thing, and one day without even thinking about it, I see a 10 mm socket in the engine bay...it's good feeling when you find it. My son lost a line wrench, i finally replaced it but it does not fit in the set the...
a few years ago I was helping a guy work on the front engine of a Cat scraper.
he dropped a 15/16" wrench into the belly pan.
he then took 4 more wrenches that were close by and dropped them in also.
I was stunned.
He said you think I'm...
Power steering is a game changer, you will love it!! Dont get defeated, at the end of the day, these trucks can be real nice drivers, you are doing all the necessary mods to get there. I have been driving a 45 for the last 25 years, and it still...
I spent a couple of weeks fixing it, drove it around the block and it was the worst thing I’ve ever driven, terrible brake, suspension, steering, electrical issues etc…. Feeling somewhat defeated in purchasing my nightmarish dream car I came back...
Thanks. For now I’d like to get it in driving condition, I have my son’s FJ40 that I’m restoring so I’d like to work on this more in the future. I have a 1985 Toyota pickup that I drive around (3 mile radius) and I’d like to replace this cruiser...
Glad you got it running, you got good karma. It may not be too late, get a large magnet run it around even where you think it did not bounce to. Sometimes I have work on really tiny stuff. Instead of using my fingers I use tweezers to put it...
Update #1:
Cleaned up that connection and put it back together with a waterproof connector and purrrrrrrr!!!!
My master cylinder rebuild was a success, my brakes, even without bleeding them yet, are better than they were with an aftermarket...
check around the carb as you may have hit something when doing the brake master switcharoo
check all the battery connections, clean and tight, both ends
I remember back in the day I got side swiped while at my parents home. They wanted to give me about a grand. I told my Dad try to buy a 40 for a grand. You are not going find one so the end of the day....what it cost you to replace one of equal...
I saw a trick on YouTube I might try when the time comes. The guys cut small squares (maybe 4"×4") of 1/2" ish thick foam and put between each level of the spring's coils in the seat. Haven't tried it yet but sure seems like that might help with...
Greased and got seat tracks working. Test fit is great. Next time it’s out is for upholstery. Old Mazda bucket seats and pipe frame off to the dump😂 looks and feels proper again in the driver seat!
Great progress. I will say a lot of the electrical issues I have encountered have been bad connections, a small wire brush or a little rubbing with emery cloth go a long way with cleaning terminal ends. I would definitely clean the gas tank. It's...
Got driveshaft today! It drove under its own power around the block for the first time since 1987. Might need to clean the fuel tank and definitely rebuild the carb with the kit I have! Progress!
Thanks @Jack A for the missing links!! Got the missing rear door handles. Old “Fritz” took care of this old girl!! Engine is clean inside! Has oil to rockers when running so must be bad gauge or sender and will diagnose that next. Few more parts...
So I bought the Banana Yellow LV from Montana. I have had a lot of 40’s a 45pu and 80’s over the years.. current stable is Fj60, BJ73 and now LV! Plan is to get it stopping(dual circuit master) and complete rebuild to be safe then get it running...
One trick is to put the bushing in the freezer. Then heat the spindle with sunshine or low oven , low. Then the bushing will be real easy to get in and after the assembly gets to regular temp, you will be fine.
