So he bought a Rubi? I'm sure that wasn't cheap. Hope your surgery goes well. Must have messed it up pretty good. I just had one myself...I'm up to 6 total but yours appears worse.

Bear with me guys, I'm determined to get through this and the LC keeps my brain going when stir crazy is about to take over. 5th surgery in two weeks from now, hopefully the last. FTR, a 17yo blew a stop sign, I was on my Harley. Happens Feb 1st, this pic is 2 weeks later.

Yep yours is worse. Sorry bro. Definitely keep the mind busy on good things. I just had a meniscus replacement from wear and tear from years of ball. I'll pray for ya if it means anything. Again lovin' your rig, keep this build thread updated.

I'm going in for surgery #5 on my knee in a couple weeks, but by August I should be ready for wheeling/camping. Ever hit Deer Valley? Up by 88/89? Heard its going through its partial closure but many are. That's a great camping spit with moderate wheeling, and I'd love to hit the Rubicon before labor day
I'm down for any day off road!! Good luck with the surgery.

man, sorry you got hurt, hope you feel better soon.
Thanks man. Was stir crazy for 3 months, bought the 80, started driving again shortly after and the rest is history. Another surgery in two weeks and hopefully the last one for a while. As of last week I can stand again on two feet, and took a couple steps on my own the other day, which has been a goal for four months now. Thanks to dear friends putting the lift on, and the smaller things I can handle, I'm getting it all together. Long road ahead of me, glad I'm locked with a LC! Thanks again!

Wow, sorry to hear about the accident. You've got the right attitude, get'er' done. Nice LC too!

So I read a thread the other day, can't for the life of me remember which one, and the poster said he went to the dealer for his (96 if I'm not mistaken) ignition key, to get a new one made. He stated he paid 35 or 40 bucks per blank, which really blew my mind knowing a 96 doesn't take anything special. Well, the PO of mine provided me with one key, and its an ilco, junk. Many times now I've had to fiddle with it, jiggle it a bit to make it either start to turn the ignition, or to get it to release all the way when turning off the truck (yes, its in park and the safety switch works fine.). I witnessed my fiance fumbling with it the other day, and watched her force it a bit as I cringed and said NO! Today I hopped in the truck and started to turn the ignition, feeling the key "give" or bend a bit. So I called The local dealer, and asked if they had blanks, "yes", rad, hold two and I'll be there shortly. Expecting a hit, the " joe-schmow" price was 15 and change, including the cut. My buddy, old boss and local Toyota guru who works in parts, said my cost is just under 9 bucks a pop! Done! He asked if I wanted to cut them using the old key, or get the key code, costs 10 bucks. I said yes, a "new" key is my preference, cut from the code and not the junk key I have. Long story short, 2 new factory keys, cut via key code, and obtaining the code, 29 bucks out the door and they work perfectly, door cyl as well. So, there's the official word. No hookup, keys are $16, and code is 10!

interesting, could you tell me whether your key works on the rear hatch? I have a cheap key and it just does not work at all on the rear hatch and maybe this is the reason? it works sorta on the door and it works fine on the ignition. I mainly use it on the ignition anyhow as I use the keyfob to open the door. It would be worth it however to have one that works on the rear hatch.

@1973Guppie I'll check in the morning and report back. I'm in for the night, crutches destroy my ability to hop up and go out front "real quick." Hopefully, for both our sakes it does!

@1973Guppie wellwell, I went to check the rear hatch for ya, and shocking, I have no exterior lock cylinder on the rear hatch! Been a day, works flawlessly on the ignition and both doors, but sorry, no hatch info :(

It's in behind the flip-over chrome piece on the rear hatch. Did you flip it open and no lock cylinder, or did you look and didn't see anything, but didn't know you could find a "hidden" lock cylinder? (Yes, it's happened to a guy who bought his truck new 23 years ago and didn't know it was there.....)

As for your knee... Freaking OUCH!

As for my Lexus key, mine has a square corner like shape rather than comes to a point.
