They were put on by the original owner in 1981. I am the second owner.

I’m curious as well, would love to get the crappy repaint off the original below it...

Safety Kleen paint stripper applied with brush, wait till slight bubbling of paint and then scrape with small scraper.
Followed with dollar store degreaser to neutralize and then paint stripper again.
I then used easy off oven cleaner and a razor blade to remove random paint areas and again neutralize with degreaser.
Lots of rags to wipe things clean and a bucket of water ect..,
Final wet sand with with 320 grit and plan to coat with wax or something else over rust spots.
