Thank you.

The photo came from a friend of mine. It is his son "driving" his dad's stunning 1982 FJ40.

This is great. Thanks CD. We didn’t know it that night, but the seeds we planted will grow long after we are gone. Keaton and Liam are pretty special kids. Their minds, attitudes, personalities... are years ahead of their age. I often get discouraged with the latest generation of kids.... but your boys give me hope. I’m glad I could be a small part of their lives.

Hehe. The force is also strong with @Cowboy45 ‘s older brother Liam watching him. He is not yet willing to take step 1 of the 12 step cruiser program. He did find Old Landy for @Cowboy45.

I do know crusiers are helping him build his pony. The right way. It’s all good.

I want to thank you too @CaptClose, because not just anyone would let a kid he has just met do his knuckle job, and little did I know that’s what gave me the bug. It wasn’t just you too though, @POTATO LAUNCHER showed me his awsome 40 at SAS #2 (I still can’t get over that hand throttle! You are a genius), I got to ride with @roma042987 and he taught me a lot about engines, and I got a very special ride with @76 FJ40 and his 45 (pushed me to get a 45) I think that is the coolest thing about mud, there is instant trust and friendship between random people just through cruisers! It’s super cool to me!:)

You guys are way ahead of where many of us were when we were your ages. Your parents are doing an awesome job and you are very fortunate to have these opportunities. Your skill set and aptitude for mechanical understanding will allow you to do anything you want to do in life. Keep those eyes open and soak up all the knowledge you can because it will pay off in the future. You can loose many material things in life but no one can ever take a useful tool like knowledge away from you. Keep up the good work my friend.

CD I think this is a life lesson for all of us. Everyone of us have influence in our journey called life. Sometimes we get to see that influence but usually we don’t. Another thing to keep in mind is that our influence can be good or bad. So we should both guard and be intentional about the example others may follow.

It is an honor and great joy to be part of your family’s journey!

I will post separately on new thread in 40 section. Does anyone know the color codes for the yellow/orange/red of in the racing stripes?

@RAGINGMATT responded in a separate thread

Iron man Orange is #419
Iron man Yellow is #420
Iron man Red is #421

Trying to compare #419 with Pollux orange #304. Looking for an orange that pops more. Feel like #419 might be it.

@RAGINGMATT response is below. He attached some cool retro pics. Not sure if he is in one of the pics.We plan to use a thin striping band of above race colors on campershell as discussed earlier on page 23. If #419 pops more we plan to use it for body color. Win win. It is a brighter TEQ orange and will tie the striping in as well.

We were thinking Pollux Orange is a little to dull so maybe a brighter color would be nice! I like the modern color racing stripe orange quite a bit. Looks really nice!

My wife shared this with me that captures what we are trying to emphasize to @Cowboy45 and Liam. Old Landy is helping to shape them as they work on shaping it.

As you guys know we sent the engine to the machine shop, and we finally got ot back! The rocker arms need to be ground down a little more, but other then that it looks fairly clean. I will post some pictures later today, because I have to go to school but they should be up by tonight.

Patrick- I also want to send thanks out to @dogfishlake for picking up our 70 series rear ebrake axle for Old Landy. Another person to help out on this journey! I am so glad you are apart of it! Also I know this may be beyond you, but I hear you are going to stay with us so PLEASE come on a weekend, then me and Liam can actually hang out with you while you are here (Instead of being at school), and we can go to the barn to see Landy!

Glad to help! I'm excited to see Old Landy. I am definitely going to try to make it during the weekend. I will stay in touch.

So we got the head back from the machine shop. All measurements we took were validated. New stem seals, original valve guides since they were spot on, original valves and springs. Valves were reground. They decked the head a hair. Was not warped. They took precups out to inspect. Cracks had not propagated to the inside of the precups. Decking did not eliminate precup layer that was cracked. Some have radial cracks which are fine. Others are cracked within the space that sits over the piston chamber. I have attached some pics. We will replace the cups to be safe and deck it flat if needed.

All but two rocker arms were recoverable so we will order 2.
