Didn't have a lot of time today, but got the block stripped down and the worst of the "Saudi cement" scraped off.

All torn down. The only thing left on the block is the crankshaft, and that will be out tomorrow morning.
Then it is time to get the parts to the machine shop, the cam and lifters to Delta for a regrind, and get going on all the cleaning and painting.

Cam and lifters are at Delta for their 250S regrind. I put that cam in the 40 2f when it was rebuilt and like it a lot.
Crankshaft is loosely installed in the block for transport to the machine shop. Head with valves and springs and rocker arm shaft assembly installed, connecting rods, harmonic balancer with nut, flywheel with 3 dowels and mounting bolts are all ready to go as well. I will probably make the drive next week.
In the meantime, been cleaning parts and prepping for painting- love that Saudi Cement.
And a critical part arrived. Can't wait to knock that one of of the list

Took a first pass at de-grunging the tranny/transfer. Zep orange soak, scrape, scrape, scrape, scrape and then scrape some more, power wash, and prepares to scrape and wire wheel.
Almost have myself talked into separating the tranny and transfer to get them really clean and to do a "since you are in there" transfer rebuild.

Great work! You and I are doing the same build on a 2F. I built much of the bottom end last week. Cleaned and painted the timing plate cover and timing cover yesterday. Need to clean the oil pan and side cover tomorrow. Hope to get the cam installed and finish the bottom end by early next week. The plan is to put it in my '65 45. I'll post a few pics on that thread when I get a chance.
I am quite envious of the clean state the truck came in. Congrats and thanks for the thread!

Me too!
All of the other crank bearings, rod bearings and cam bearings showed normal wear for the mileage on the engine. The only bad one was the rear crank, and it was really bad.
Maybe the 45's motor was channeling my deepest, secret inner thoughts that I liked the engine builds so much on the other 2 Cruisers that it wanted me to have one for it.
Either that or an oil passage blockage, maybe.

Engine is torn down and parts and pieces ready to take to the machine shop. Unfortunately, continuing the bad timing, the shop is in the middle of relocating from Denver to Wyoming and won't be ready to do anything for me until the end of the month at the earliest. After the work they did on the previous two engines, not even a delay and a 6 hour drive to the new location will stop me from using them again. I am retired after all.
More cleaning and painting to do in the mean time, and looks like now the transfer will definitely get a rebuild.

Not too much to report, we have been on a driving tour of South Dakota for a week or so.
Did get the manifolds cleaned up.
And some new gaskets for the intake /exhaust manifold connection.

And the box from Delta Cam just showed up. Cam and lifter pics with a invoice comparison of todays price vs. the one from 2021.

Final polish on the intake manifold revealed a not so good surprise. There was a pretty significant crack at the junction of the rear runner and mounting flange.
I sent these pics to @cruisermatt to look at as he offers a weld/repair service on these aluminum manifolds. Matt confirmed my thoughts that it was not a good candidate for repair due to the structural requirements.
Luckily, I was able to dig out the intake manifold that came out of my '84 FJ60 that got replaced when I did the 2FE conversion on it. I have high hopes that it should work as the main difference in the US spec and the GCC seems to be only some smog stuff. Matt says it should, so I am feeling pretty good about my chances.
So I have another one to clean up and see if there are any surprises on this one.

Sure that's fine. I have used F style on 2Fs. At least that's a 2F. Also it has the good PVC intake.

If no luck, you might be able to get a brand new one from Binmahmood stores, I did. Mine is 1980 GCC part# 17100-61012. 1984 might be a different part #.
