Launched here first. for all those that have supported me in the project.
See the link at the end of this post.
The top plate has been launched today on a crowd funding site called pozible.
Crowd funding in its most basic form is the general public supporting an idea with money for a reward. In my case I am offering a cost price top plate.
Im not looking for free money, but in the true crowd funding form I am also offering other over inflated items as a reward for donations. This may suit people who want to support the project but not ready for a 5 speed or prefer a different method ...of a 5 speed conversion.
Consider it a pre-order. If I do not get pledges of 70,000 in pre-sales or other donations no money will changed hands and the project fails.
If the 70,000 is raised in the 60 days (over 75 top plates) than money is withdrawn and the project is straight into production and posted to you when its ready.
Why? To minimize the risk for both of us. With tooling costs of 15,000 I could not fund the project myself at the risk of only a few sales. At the same time not many people will send $850 to an unknown person and risk having the project fail without refund. Its time for the community to convince me that 75 people actually want one.
If you have any questions after reading my funding site launched today including its FAQ post them here so it can help everyone.
