40 plate on the left 60 plate on the right.

I've looked at the difference between the pieces of the two and decided just the housing would leave missing many parts that may or may not be available. It also seems that the 60 top cover made some changes at one point. It just looked to confusing would might work and what wouldn't. For me a used 40 series top cover is the only way I would invest in a H55F. The inspection plate on the tub changed the same time the a five speed became a option (10/82=83 model) and is a little taller. The size also changed a little too. Changed just replace it with a later one. I plan on modifying the late cover just incase I ever find the top cover so only driveline mods are needed.

Just FYI. If you wait a month or so, I'll be offering a reproduction inspection plate for 5 speed conversions. It'll be a replica of OEM with the raised section to provide additional clearance. It will not come with pre-cut holes so you can cut holes based on where you need it. Better yet: it'll be made in Japan.

Is it going to fit the 79-82 opening or the 83+? I didn't realize the shape of the opening changed until I picked parts off a 84 HJ47RV last year. While is had a H41 the opening was raised for the five speed which makes me thing Toyota standardized the opening when it was modified for five speed.

My 84 is also raised from the factory.

Both types will be available. Compare the 2 photos in the Unobtainium thread, and you'll find that shape of the covers in the first photo is different from that in the second.

I took a look at the other thread and could see the difference in the mounting holes. This looks like a easy way to go rather modify the opening. Still haven't located a cover that hasn't required taking out a mortgage.

Also like no holes option which allows using late 40 series boots or one from a 60 series. Have both so which cane I would end up with would determine which boots. Price point also looks good. Are these metal or fiberglass?

Right, choice of two covers + the no holes option should have all the basis covered (no pun intended :)). These are made of fiberglass.
