UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
i know alot have been asking about pics in action so i took a few, see page 3 for the new pics

so i was tossing around some ideas and found the spare tire carrier i liked the most, i really liked the poison spyder design so i decided to copy it (for lack of creative imagination) below is the progress i have made. i was wanting to get the emblems back on and ditch the led round lights in the tub.

started with some square tubing 2x4
thing weighs like 50 lbs alone

cut out light holes and welded on brackets

now was the time to figure what tire rack i was going to go with, itred of the spare laying in the back seat, so i went wit this design with a few tweaks

so i broke out the welder and some steel and here it goes

sweet concept to start with, curious to see what you end up with... only bummer is it seems to preclude the addition of a cool ice chest rack and/or gas can holders given it's design...

BTW, is it my eyes, or is that some burley chick drivin that rig?

made a mount to the tub ( dont worry its geting tied in to the roll cage so it wont be prone to failure or bending the tub up

just got to finish burning some welds and add the peice that holds the tire on. expect more to come in the next few days.

what think ye??

oh yes i made this to accomidate 38 inches of rubber, next on my list !!

how exactly does the wheel stay in there? how does it mount to the actual rack?
almost looks like a gravity setup.

i will incorporate giant magnets on top and bottm and using the forces of the pos. and negativity action caused by this, it will hover with no srings attached
much like modern day rollercoasters, sweet huh

no, right now its just held up by a strap, to center the tubes and find where to weld the brackets in. i have a tube and a disc with lugs thatl be burned in tomorrow.

Have you been hanging in s***-Shat lately? (are you being sarcastic?)
In case you are serious... He's going to add the mount next..

Damn, Cam that looks nice! Now no one will mistake your rig for another....

clearly I know there is a mount coming.... will make my sarcasm cleaner next time so it is super obvious...

so let me be real clear now that I know what I am up against...

will he be using:

a) a crank down strap system (like you see on baja rigs)
b) a standard 3 bolt system
c) a single long handle speed system

i was going with b) but with 4 bolts

but now you got the wheel tuning? hmmm. i think 4 bolt might be best due to lack af space betweebn tire and doors. just hang tight ill get to work. its turning out better than i hoped,
