Won’t he need to do a complete axle swap to get disc brakes? He’s in the ball and claw era. I do think the swap is worth the push however.
On the transmission- there are other more refined manual transmission to choose from that won’t break the bank. Some might save hassles on adapting the SBC.
Btw- that’s exactly the condition I like to acquire a project. Blank slate. I’d feel horrible hacking up a survivor, but something that’s seen it’s fair share of abuse/modifications opens all sorts of doors.
