Seriously. Need to flush the evaporator, find and install a condenser and dryer, make my lines, wire the compressor.

how old is the evaporator? Should have just put a new one in when you did the glove blox

You're probably right. Iirc it's oem, I've never changed it in the past 17 years at least. I put a new expansion valve on it two years ago in anticipation of making it all work, but never did, lol. Same with the brand new compressor on the engine hahaha

They're cheap. it's worth it so you don't do all that work and then ruin the compressor from whatever Rochester mildew is still living in there

On the way to Cape Lookout, I had a ujoint wear out in the rear driveshaft CV. Appeared to be two caps of one joint in one axis, which is an odd failure. Center pin felt fine, didn't feel like tearing the whole CV apart to replace, so we went on. 350 miles of driving out there, around the island, and back home, and the vibe got much worse at low speed, but it held up.
Just pulled the failed driveshaft out last night, and all four caps that are pressed into the outer yoke section of the CV failed. None of the other caps appear to have failed. Very strange. It's going back to tom woods to investigate and repair. You can see the three of the four broken caps in this pic, along with how the flange and shaft yokes are misaligned. Tons of slop.
I did see a scrape mark on the driveshaft from the OEM e-brake bracket I hadn't noticed on the other shafts I've had in this truck. Either way, it's outta there now.
Finally, the DS lock mechanism got tight recently, so it was time to whip out the bodywork jig to reshape the door skin closer to how it should be:
After popping the skin out. You can see how the door lock was being forced into one of the window run brackets. Got the door lock lever somewhat straightened out and it's much happier now.

Lol.
GSMTR 2023 was fun. Went to go do walden's ridge and my shifters were stuck. Pulled it apart and they all rusted together. Must have been from the last cape lookout trip, so that was great. Tried to take it apart on the side of the trail.
Got the cables out, but the rail didn't want to move. Set it on fire, but that didn't help.
Had to cut the rail into pieces, then drill out each section inside of each lever, then pound each slug out. Didn't damage the levers, but **** me, that was not great. Replaced the rail with a piece of 3/8" round bar, drilled for cotter pins, with some new washers to set lever spacing. Since the rail is floating now, it seems freer than it ever has, so this appears to be an improvement. Anti-seize for the win.

The shifter ordeal burned up the whole first day, which wasn't great, but iiwii. Next day, we went out and did some dumb s*** with @cruisermatt @Fort Knox driving their trucks, then @Hokie LX and @4LowandSlow riding with.

Popped an upper radiator hose right at the end of this video, that's what Garrett is going down to check on.
Cabled up and got the truck out as quick as possible so I didn't melt the motor, and did some damage.
Shout out to @cruisermatt for cutting off a 3" section of his radiator hose to fix the coupler that ripped on moonshine. Fixed that problem, then that was the end of the day.
Next day went out with @cruisermatt and @roadstr6 in his new rig:

Since moonshine doesn't keep the rain out anymore after popping the ps front door glass and crushing the a-pillar, she's gonna live in the trailer for a bit. I'll pick up the parts I need, straighten the a-pillar, then mull over putting a cage in this thing. @Hokie LX gave me a killer idea for putting the a-pillar cage bars inside of the body a-pillars, so we might explore that later this year. Once I get a cage in it, I'm applying for Ultimate Adventure.

I have thought about tube doors, but half the time at windrock (east coast in general) it's raining. With these tires I'd be about as dirty as the sxs guys. Plus, instead of the door folding, tube doors would **** up the pillars more I'd bet.
I've got a set of front doors I plan to make into half doors, so that should scratch the itch.
UA has been a dream for a long time, but the cage requirement kept me from applying.
I will gladly volunteer to be your co-pilot if you ever get selected for UA.
