Just a little material missing from those synchros...oof.

Mmmm, brand new.

Is it literally brand new or a reman? I know every part is available new but not whole transmissions?

Brand new, not a reman. Cost $150 more than the reman option, figured why not.

New trans is in, as is the doubler. Missed ordering a gasket for the tcase adapter, so I'll work on getting that in this week, so I can put the rest together.

New figure 8 big bore gasket came in (311304a ordered on ebay), so the transfer case adapter got put back on with hylomar on both sides, then tons of red loctite on the fasteners.

Case went back in, along with the crossmembers and case shifters. She'll be moving again by tomorrow.

I kinda like the red trans case. Makes the whole thing pop.

Realized that the new shifter they sent with the trans, and the one I had, were very different. From the PO, I knew he had a short shifter on there, but never knew what that meant exactly. Turns out it just means a shorter shifter lever, not a thing that makes shift throws shorter, lol.

Got the old shift lever swapped to the new housing and put on, then truck finished up. Dang are new transmissions stiff.

The short-shift kit for these is a NV5600 shifter and a 1" aluminum spacer.

Heard that. I can't explain the difference between the two shifters above then.

The one you are using is GM. The curvy one is Dodge

Nice. Well, they are swappable within the shift towers! Thanks for filling in the gaps.

Big different in pice too between the All State Gear (cheap) and the B&M short throw (expensive). Have had both. Both do same thing but the ASG puts the shifter a bit more left.
I also have the Hurst which is a loud rattletrap.

Front driveshaft has had a bad slip for a while, and I assumed it was just the slip wearing out due to neglect. Made a fixture, got my old driveshaft on the lathe, and found out it was way way way out of true. Must have been smashed long ago.

Cut the tube off, saved the cv, added a new tube, slip and lower u-joint, slammed her back together.

While underneath I realized the np205 inspection cover was seeping oil, so I removed, cleaned, and rtv'd it.

That's bad ass you have the capabilities to build a true shaft like that!

What tube did you go with this time?

New trans is mint. No driveline leaks noticed after 500 miles, and the synchros seem broken in now.

Front driveshaft is mint too. No issues being in 4wd on the sand all weekend, blasting up and down the beach at up to 50mph for an hour at a time or more.

This is cape lookout national seashore. 10/10.

Spotted this sweet rig on the beach. Not in our group, totally random, totally bad ass.

Ordered a new headless radio setup with integrated Bluetooth, which prompted taking the dash apart. When I did the whole makeover I put three extra layers of insulation on the firewall, but doing so pushed the hvac system out enough I couldnt install the glove box.

Took out the top layer of jute, put everything back together and got my @NLXTACY Wits End glove box installed. Sweet piece of kit. Sad that it sat on my shelf for two years before it made its way into the truck, lol.

Above the glove box attached to the bottom of the dash is my new Boss brand Bluetooth amp setup. Cost $100, so not bad, same size as the old marine one that just had aux in. The new amp seems to work real well, I'm a fan.

Reused the old bracket I had made for the Pyle amp too.

While in there, the old hvac panel I had made was falling apart. The epoxy failed and oem plastic was dust. Reached out to Chase at @CruiserHeadParts @ChaserFJ60 and asked him to overlay my switch panel design on his 3d hvac bezel model. After working out some of the finer details, he sent me the print and man, is it sweet. Finishing the 3d print wasn't too bad, and I love how it came out.

Rough sand and prime:

Filled with spot filler and sanded again:

Lots more sanding, primed again:

Painted it black with 3-4 coats, then got all my stuff installed.

Looks dope AF in the truck. Also pictured the boss amp control panel on a little aluminum bezel I made, then riveted to the bottom of the dash.
