Glad you're up and about Mike!! Work is piling up... :pompous:

Thanks Danny! I'm not the type to call in sick and stay in bed watching reruns. Today I'm building a TV stand out of pine, the weather is not making any promises for any outdoor work, as such the wood stove project and the Toro will have to wait till another day.

The TV stand is a simple boxed platform to sit on top of a bedroom furniture piece to elevate the TV an additional 6 inches since our bed is on the high side. Presently finishing sanding and staining will follow before :princess: comes home from the office.

Will post pics later...now back to sanding.

TV pedestal (nothing fancy) I finished sanding and also applied the first coat of stain, here are couple of pics:

I also did a dry fit on the chimney 30 degree offset to clear my 24 inch eve, all ready to install, weather permitting soon I hope.

dry fit on the chimney

Semi Hijack alert!!!

I'm getting ready to do the same thing on my cabin. I've found the makers of "6 triple wall stainless stove pipe are very "Proud" of their product. Here in the Enchanted kingdom it's about $105 for a 3' section.

That looks good Mike!!

Wow...nice shop, uh i mean nice wood work. But really, nice jet lathe.
IMHO hang the flat screen from the wall. Every man cave needs ALL available floor space..

Thanks Douglas!
I agree shop floor space comes at a premium and as such hanging the flat screen is in the works.

I hear you bro, here in the rain forest the double wall chimney pipe is equally expensive, luckily I had (3) leftover 3 foot sections from another project, however, the rest of the fittings required to complete the chimney as pictured cost me close to $1K, yes sir they are very proud indeed!

I discovered the same thing two years ago. Five hundred for a nice stove, and over $800 in fittings for a straightforward install.

One more semi hijack..

Nice hearth Mark. Local stone? I think I'm either going with a local stone or a natural slate...

Mike, I owe you a couple of "props"...I've stolen at least one of your ideas...Looks great..I'm still going to take you up on a PNW micro-brew...Trying to figure out how to dovetail it with a Blacktail hunt.:)

I go out to the desert a lot, and have been bringing landscape rocks home for a few years now. I am working on a stone walkway in the front yard, and an outdoor shower in the backyard. So when it came time to put in the stove, I just borrowed some material from one project for another. There's an extra touch of warmth in knowing I gathered the stones together [Turn, Turn, Turn]

Mike, I'm beginning to think that yours and Danny's threads have achieved the status of becoming un-hijack-able!

Is this what they call blogging?

I love props! So...which idea are you referring to? so I can reciprocate with props.

Thanks Mark! I agree to un-hijack-able.

Danny's thread is number one in my book! As far as hijacking, our threads are of everyday life and anything goes...so please feel free to share your thoughts, projects, pics, etc..

Thanks Mike, but I beg to differ... My thread is just the listless meandering of a son of the desert...

I can't speak for Mike, but, if I enjoy living vicariously through others... Gives me things to dream about, study up on and wish I had done when I was younger.

I enjoy life and enjoy visiting with people all over the world... And if its in my thread, it MUST be important

I can speak for Mark... Picking up rocks in the desert isn't always legal, so I'm sure he's picking them up at a stone yard, in a desert area ;)

The real advantage to Mike's thread is his attention to detail, in all his mods... Everything he does is exceptional, to the smallest detail.

I used to be more demanding, but I'm now in a function over form mode... If I have an idea, I develop it as quickly as I can, so I can get back out there and use it... If it ain't the purdiest, that's ok, I still like it.

Thanks Danny! What you eloquently said is what I meant to say in short hand.^^^
