Here is the idea.... The purchasing power of many can be great!

As we all know, Magnuson has begun producing a supercharger for our 80 series rigs. The sticker price is about $4,300, and the thought occurred to us, what if we get a bunch of people ready to buy these and see if vendors will compete to get a stack of orders.
So, we started to see how many people would be interested, and at this posting I have been contacted by 12 people that are interested and ready to commit to this. The goal is to get to 20.

We are looking for anyone that wants to join us. The power of many! In additioan, we are looking for Magnuson vendors that want an easy large quantity sale. If you have a contact with a vendor, let us know.

Once we have 20 people that want to order this supercharger we will start contacting vendors directly to shop it around.

Details.

I am estimating that the final price is about $3,500 or under.

Whatever the best price is, the individuals pay directly to the vendor (much like the group buy from 4x4labs). You do not send me a penny.

Shipping would likely be in addition to the price, and I will work with everyone to try to group ship if there is a cluster of you in one area.

Timeframe -- I would say next three months. I have no idea on how fast Magnuson is producing these, plus we have to find a vendor. My plan is to get a list of 10-20 people and then start contacting vendors. Once we get a vendor that wants to play ball, I will give them the list of addresses and contact information and then you will call them and pay for it.

here is who has sent me their contact information and is on my spreadsheet

did anyone ever get a good way to make this work on OBDI trucks?

@slow95z here is a write up done by another member with the steps needed for pre-95, Kazuma Supercharger Install
Scroll to the bottom to see the steps for the pre-95 setup

i was talking more about the lack of fuel the 93/94 trucks had when boosted. my PAIR has long since been removed and i know i can make it bolt up.

From my understanding Toyota stopped making the TRD supercharger because it made it very difficult to pass emissions due to the unit's interference with the EGR system??

Toyota stopped making them because no one was buying them.

Would it be ~$3500 for a complete bolt on kit? IE brackets, belt, piping, instructions? Or is it $3500 for a charger and I have to go source a bunch of miscellaneous pieces to get it bolted on? Maybe a silly question but I reread and didn't see a kit referenced.

We are looking to buy the complete kit, that is what Magnuson is selling.

Thanks, is there already a place to purchase this kit without the group buy? I checked Magnuson's site and don't yet see it as a product. I have heard that they purchased/ took over rights from Toyota but has anyone actually put their hands on a kit form them? I am very interested in the price point but with tax season upon us can't commit at the moment. I'm subscribed and may jump on depending on timing and price achieved with the power of the group.

with the expected wholesale price of $3850.00 the plan is to contact distributors and sell them on the idea of taking a $350.00 loss per unit because it will be made up through volume.

Have I got this right?

I don't think that I ever saw the wholesale price listed anywhere. I was assuming a certain amount of markup, and as @cruiserdan already liked your message, maybe there is some incorrect assumptions.

$4375 is msrp, and if wholesale is $3850, that means there is 14% markup. I assumed that most auto parts have more markup than that.

Large-ticket items and accessories generally have a much smaller profit margin than oil filters and fenders.
