Just ordered a set for DS2's! I did a crude miniH1 swap in my old LX and had to sell the car right as Luke was coming out with these in early '17.

Now I'm back in the hunt for another LX , so I bought a set since this'll be my first mod.

Lou you suck.....LOL... all I can say is I feel this is a more appropriate setup than the quad system as I get brighted all the time running the 4 lights. But man is it AWESOME! I just need to figured out the switch so I can use all 4 when I’m out in country. I also like the idea of the DRL aspect if you can figure that out.

If your on the fence about having LOU build you a set, don’t be. I honestly feel this is probably the single best upgrade I’ve done to my LX. Replacing my NaV is a close tie. . Well and Lou is a hell-up-a-guy, but he still sucks for throwing this new crap out here after I bought the quad. LOL. :bang::rofl:

Maybe I missed it in an earlier post (you've got so many here!) but with the (what I'll call Q45 style) projector fixture, how is that set up? Meaning, is that light running all the time with low beams or solely as the high beam? And if only the high beam, would the projector(s) still rely on the reflector housing at all? Same questions for the quad set up (single high beam projector) on the last page. I'm still trying to educate myself on the inner-workings and variations. I appreciate the insight and info you're posting here @Luke111

Bill, you know I just can't help myself and I'll build you another set as I know you like to have two or three of everything LOL. I will share this link of the A-Pillar switch I installed

That light is a high beam but can has third wire to run it as a DRL (daytime running light) but still fires as a high beam One page back is a video explaining how it works.. My idea was simple to offer a option in the high beam location that provides a crisp white light verses the factory yellow DRL but also operates as a high beam. Let me be clear the D2S and Mini H1 high beam throw a longer high beam then this LED
So it's more about aesthetics then light output. I also installed a 193 peanut LED in the side marker light so all the lights color match

The D2S and Mini H1 projectors are both low and high beam... When you switch to high beams there is a shield in the projector that drops the open up the projector.
The quad set up has 4 low beams and 4 high beams firing .

How much light do you really need?

Excellent, thank you!

So on the quad, they'd all be a bi-xenon set up then, yes?

Yes they are all bi-xenon
I have my inside projectors connected to a switch ... running four projectors in town is just to much. I was flashed just once by a guy in a AUDI A8.
He actually swerved into my lane to flash me... he regretted doing that .. so I just leave them off around town

Wow.. you’ve put together some amazing candle power.

Thank you

Another endorsement for these brackets and @Luke111 , I had a small issue with my install and he was quick to respond. The brackets themselves are well thought out and make this upgrade much easier (I have done previous retrofits modifying old housings).

I am going to take my lights back apart to try the LED high beam, mostly because I want to black my lights out. I had been waiting to order these since I initially got the discount from TRS and wanted it again BUT I found another seller on ebay selling the same thing with a discount and free shipping HERE (If a link to someone else besides TRS is not wanted I will remove).

I posted my install process in my build thread and will follow up with high beam install if anyone is interested HERE

Does painting the housing black effect the light output of the DS2 in any way? Any pics of the painted housing installed? I'm intrigued on what this would look like.

No if its a projector it does not use the housing as a reflector.

For the high beams (on the LX) it does use a reflector and painting that would not work that is why I need the LED projector for the high beams in order to paint them.

I am probably a week or 2 out from completing this but will post pictures when I am done. Lou had some painted earlier in the thread maybe he can show the finished product.

Great job on the lights and yes it's ok to link the LED's here....the seller is lightwertz they are a certified TRS dealer and has the best video's on You Tube https://www.ebay.com/usr/lightwerkz?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Thanks Froger! I saw his pics which led me to the question. I’m digging the contrast of the painted reflectors. Looking forward to seeing your end result.

I decided not to install the painted shrouds... there's a mud member with retrofit painted shrouds and I just wasn't feeling it .....probably has more to do with the big chrome grill that matches the chrome in the lights ... So maybe if you color matched the grill I'm sure they would look better.

Lou, does that LED high beam slide through a 9005 hole? like say a LC headlight high beam. No fuss? wired straight to the same splitter that one uses with D2s to trigger high beam?

I see it says 19mm bore and the hole on a 9005 os 20.5-21mm. So there isn't anything more to it?

Excuse my ignorance but if a 9005 hole is the same one that’s on the LX it just about slides through. I used a sanding drum on a Dremel and hit it lightly and it slid through....in the picture below that’s a factory shroud that has not been hit with a Dremel and I can screw it in but it was a little tight so that’s why I use the sanding drum
Obviously I’m sliding it through the wrong direction but you get the picture

Here the extended threaded shaft I ordered

Thanks Lou! Looking as doing a quad set up soon with DS2. Can’t thank you enough for all the time and effort you’ve put into this.

thanks Lou. I just dropped a 9005 on the tile. So I think it's a no brainer.

Are you talking about 4 D2S projectors?? The D2S and a shroud will not fit in the high beam location and if you did get it to fit the rear cap will hit the A/C lines on the passenger side ...that's just one of the issues you'll run into and you will run into issues.
Start with a single D2S and see what you think about the output or use the Mini H1 in the high beam side location.. Look at the output shots above... How much light do you really need especially if you're still driving with the stock lights?
